MCCV Robotics 2023

https://youtu.be/U7lxSajJfFk

This past Saturday March 6, 2023 MCCV’s inaugural Lego Robotics Team took part in the 20th annual Sonoma County Robotics Challenge.

22 students across 8 teams competed in two of the eight events; Sumo and Freeform.

Throughout the semester, students built a variety of robots which developed skills like problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. The coaches are beyond proud of the ingenuity, grit and positive attitudes that students have demonstrated.

The MCCV Robotics team wants to express our appreciation for all community members who generously donated to the 2022 Fund-a-Need; funds from that were used to purchase 15 brand new Lego Spike Kits which allowed the Robotics program to get up and running. A special thank you to all the parent volunteers and coaches, the MCCV PTA, and Ms. Eichert. Thank you for making this season possible!

MCCV Open House

Thursday, May 25

6:00-7:30pm

Dear MCCV Families,

Open House is a time to come and celebrate your children's learning. On Thursday, May 25th, families are invited to the school from 6:00-7:30pm to walk through classrooms and look at their child's and classmates' work. All learning spaces will be open, and your child will give you a tour of where they spend their days. They will lead you through not only their classroom but other classrooms in the cluster and beyond as well as places of interest on campus. Students and families often enjoy visiting previous year's classes to reminisce and future clusters to anticipate what is ahead.

This is a family event - students will stay with their grownups, and vice-versa. We look forward to seeing you. There is so much to celebrate!

Well wishes and gratitude,
Liza Eichert

May 31, 2023

12:00-1:00pm

During the 4th Quarter of our school year, Mr. Yu’s PBL will be hosting a Multicultural Potluck! Students and families are encouraged to bring food from their respective cultures and share it with other students in our school! The point of a potluck is that everyone brings food and has a little of what they want.

Our goal is to educate our campus about different foods from different cultures. Our date for the potluck is May 31st, 12:00-1:00pm. We Hope to see you there!

Friends of Cherry Valley Library Fundraiser
Friday, July 287:00–10:00pm

Griffo Distillery & Tasting Bar

1320 Scott St, Petaluma, CA

Please join the Friends of Cherry Valley Library (FCVL) for a Back To School Concert Fundraiser at Griffo Distillery. This concert features a live performance by musicians Arann Harris and friends, as well as light snacks and two delicious Griffo cocktails! There are only 100 tickets—so don’t wait! All profits from this event will go to the Friends of the Cherry Valley Library.

Griffo Distillery - Award winning, small-batch distillery and tasting bar in Petaluma, distilling craft spirits including gin, whiskey, vodka, coffee liqueur, mixers and cocktail kits as well as hand sanitizer.

Arann Harris - Arann’s distinctive voice comes from playing at countless campfires, hole-in-the-wall bars and coffee houses around the country. The themes of Arann’s lyrics could read like a journal of his travels: farming, animals, food, friends and “dirt-bag, wine-country livin’.” Yet traces of Arann’s urban upbringing can always be found in his music, providing kids raised on hip hop and other modern genres a bridge to the rich history of American folk.

Safe Streets For All Survey

Take the Safe Streets For All Survey! Whether you walk, bike, or drive to school, improving Safe Routes to School makes our streets safer for all road users! This important survey will inform future Safe Routes to School programming and projects (including potential infrastructure improvements such as bike lanes, crosswalks, etc) to facilitate safer transportation. This year, local public works/planning departments in every jurisdiction are working on their Active Transportation Plan updates. An infrastructure project typically needs to be in a Transportation Plan in order for it to be funded. Parent (and school staff) voices are critical for identifying potential projects and priority routes in the vicinity of schools.
