SCPS Marching Band Leadership Camp
Band Camp is here!
- All Color Guard and Percussion members will begin camp on Monday, August 7th from 9 am - 4 pm (Drum Major and Captains will also meet during this time)
- All members of leadership will join on Tuesday, August 8th from 9 am - 4 pm
- New Marchers will report on Thursday, August 10th from 10 am - 4 pm
- Band camp for all members begins on Monday, August 14th from 8 am - 4 pm each day
A reminder that all forms, including a completed VHSL physical, are due the first day of band camp.
Please check the MVHS Band calendar carefully for all upcoming dates. Students are expected to attend all sessions without interruption. Band is the ultimate group activity - if one member is missing, it affects the entire group!
Are you physically ready for band camp?
- Hydration: Make sure that you are drinking plenty of water now, preparing for an extended period of time outside. Find your Camelbak or other wearable water source, and be prepared to bring that with you to each rehearsal
- Eat a healthy, nutritious breakfast to give you plenty of energy for the day
- Acclimate yourself to the heat! If you've been inside all summer, start taking a few walks outside to get your body used to the warm, humid temperatures
- Gather your materials: athletic, closed toed shoes; light colored, comfortable clothing; hats, sunglasses, and SUNSCREEN!
- Start thinking about what you would like to pack for your sack lunch each day (healthy, nutritious food to give you energy for the day). Avoid sodas and energy drinks.

Mandatory Meeting for Marching Band Parents and Students

Volunteer Opportunities for Parents
Uniforms: Each student will need to be fit into one of our new uniforms during the first two weeks of band camp, and each one will need to be hemmed.
Snacks/Meals: A healthy snack is provided to students during the two full weeks of band camp. A Director's Lunch (for all Staff members) is provided during this time as well.
Pit Crew: Our first football game is fast approaching, on August 31st. There we will need volunteers for our award winning pit crew, who will help move equipment to and from the stadium, and onto the field for the halftime performance.
Concessions: The Mountain View Band Program runs and coordinates concessions for all Athletic events at MVHS. Because of this, we need a large amount of volunteers to help run each of these events. We ask that each family consider volunteering for at least one or two varsity football games to help us have appropriate coverage at these events. Concessions play a huge role in the funding of our band program, and we appreciate your time and effort in supporting this important effort.
