Dear Little Hawks,

Greetings from The School That Leads! So many wonderful things happening at City High as we power through the winter! Our students are in the process of registering for classes for next year. We are making many outstanding achievements academically, in the arts, athletics, in service to others, and more. I am very proud of our students and staff! And, grateful to our school community. Thank you parents for the amazing meal you provided at January parent/teacher conferences. It was fantastic as always!

Congratulation to Show Choirs!

4th Avenue Jazz Company and Charisma each took home honors from their weekend competition. 4th Ave finished third place overall in a strong field. Charisma won the prep division! Bravo! Congratulations to Directors Hagy, Grove, and students.

Robotics Advances

Congratulations to City High's FTC Robotics team. The group advanced in regional competition. The team made some on the fly adjustments to keep our robot humming along. Such amazing engineering experience being gained by these students! Thanks to Coach Mons and Crawford and students.

Theater Students Travel to Des Moines

City High Theater students attend a traveling Broadway production of Jesus Christ Superstar recently. The students had the opportunity to participate in a special panel discuss with the cast of the production. Marvelous!

Congratulations to City High wrestler Ben Keuter! Our freshman sensation won the MVC title at his weight class, and was named the conference's most outstanding wrestler. Big time accomplishment.

Powerhouse Debaters

City High debaters Ellis and Simon are among the best in the nation! The duo recently won a major national tournament in Chicago. They are truly outstanding an in contention for a national policy debate championship.

Field Trip to Kirkwood Regional Center

Recently our Sophomore class participated in a Career Day event and toured the Kirkwood Regional Center on the Oakdale campus. Many excellent programs are available to students at this state of the art facility. Students should talk to counselors about options during registration season.

Jazz Band Fabulous

City High Jazz Ensemble recently took home second place at a major state level competition featuring many of the state's top groups. You can catch the great music at our annual Jazz Showcase concert in the cafeteria this Saturday, February 8, showtimes at 5:00 and 8:00 PM.

Also, catch our terrific orchestra's performance on Wednesday this week (February 5) at 7:30.

#1 Little Hawks!

Congratulations to Coach McTaggert and the undefeated, #1 ranked City High women's basketball team. The team completed a truly amazing week last week winning four games against top ten teams. On Saturday, the #1 Little Hawks took on #2 Dowling. City High won 75-73 on a basket by Aubrey Joens with 3.7 seconds remaining in the game. It was an outstanding performance by the team. Keep it up!
