It is hard to believe we only have 4.5 weeks remaining in the school year. The last weeks of the year will be busy!
We are extremely proud of all of our students who qualified for the Spelling Bee and gave their best effort in front of a crowd! Congratulations to the winners of this year's Spelling Bee:

Our Lost and Found rack is still overflowing! Please have your child check the rack for missing coats and water bottles. The rack will be placed out front on Friday for parents to check before and after school. Please note that all items left at the end of the day on Friday, May 19th will be donated to charity!
We look forward to seeing students and their adult VIPs at kickball this Friday!

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK: MAY 7TH-12TH
Sunday, May 7th – Chalk the Walk! Families come out, bring your own chalk and write messages to your favorite teachers and staff members on the sidewalks.
Monday, May 8th – Give a Card Monday. Make a handmade card (or purchase one) for your teacher.
Tuesday, May 9th – Snack Attack. Bring your teacher their favorite snacks and drinks.
Wednesday, May 10th – PTO Sponsored Luncheon. Families do not need to coordinate a lunch for their teachers on this day.
Thursday, May 11th – Flower Power. Bring your teacher their favorite flower or plant to liven up the classroom.
Friday, May 12th – Superhero Dress Up Day. Because our teachers are our heroes.
LCM ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP: APPLICATIONS DUE MAY 12TH
Do you know an LCM alumni that could benefit from our $500 LCM Alum Scholarship? Share this application link with them and have them apply! Open to any SMUSD high school graduating senior who is a La Costa Meadows Elementary Alumni and will be attending a two or four year college or university. Applications are due to lcmptopresident@gmail.com by May 12th. Good luck!
CAASPP Testing for 3rd - 5th
Students in grades 3-5 will be taking the state assessment beginning the week of May 15th. It is imperative that students bring their chromebooks to school fully charged each day this week as they will be using them to complete the assessment. Additionally, students should bring wired earbuds or headphones for the assessment. To help your student prepare, please make sure that he/she gets a good night of sleep, eats a healthy breakfast, and is on time to school. For more information, please refer to the communication Mrs. Barnhill sent out last week.
Used Book Sale- May 15th - 19th!
The Used Book Sale is coming to the library May 15th-19th! All books will be sold for 50 cents! Students in grades K-5 will visit the sale during their weekly library time. All proceeds will be used to buy new books for the LCM Library. Mrs. Rapo is still collecting donations of gently used books. Have your students drop them off in the Library all the way up until May 19th! Thank you!
MAY FRIDAY FLAG SALUTE- MAY 19TH
Join us on campus on Friday, May 19th at 8:45 am for our all-school assembly to learn about the latest happenings at LCM! Send a few dollars with your child if you can’t attend if you would like them to get a treat from the PTO Coffee Cart (breakfast snack options) or PTO Dolphin Gear table (dolphins, hats, etc). Thanks for your support!
NOTE: The 2nd and 3rd grade classes will be performing at Flag Salute!

SAFETY PATROL APPLICATIONS: DUE MAY 19TH
Is your child going into 4th or 5th Grade? Then, they are eligible to apply for our LCM Safety Patrol!

NOTE: 4th Graders that served in 2023 that wish to serve on next year's Safety Patrol will be Captains, and they do not need to complete the essay or teacher referral sheets.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP PARTY: MAY 30TH
The End-of-Year PTO Party for Safety Patrol, Student Council, Jr. Librarians and Talkin’ Trash members is coming up on Tuesday, May 30th after school! Students from these groups can stay after school and enjoy pizza, dancing and games. Thanks for all your help this year!
