Welcome Mr. Raff
Dear Glade Families,
It is with great personal joy that, as of July 1, 2020, I introduce myself as the next principal of Glade Elementary School. Over decades serving students in Frederick County Public Schools I have had many experiences, but few that find me as eager as I am to get to know the students, staff and community of Glade Elementary School.
For the past four years, I have had the privilege of serving Frederick County Public Schools as one of three Elementary Instructional Directors. While I enjoyed the great work of the school system supporting schools, I found myself reflecting on the joy that I had previously as an elementary school principal and I am happy that my career journey has brought me back into the building level leadership of principal.
As we get to know each other, you will discover my passion for supporting the emotional and academic growth of students. As partners, we have the honor of helping create the future leaders of tomorrow. While I know there are challenges today and ahead that we will need to work through together, I am confident that we can accomplish our goals.
A big part of my life is being a principal and educator, but the biggest part is my family. My wife, Tracy, and I are the proud parents of a recent FCPS graduate, Cayman, who is now studying entertainment production and design. I am looking forward to getting to know your family, as we get to know each other.
This summer I will be working with staff to plan for the upcoming school year and create the best conditions possible to support the emotional and academic needs of students. As details become available, I will work with staff to communicate with you as timely as possible. Over the summer, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if I can be of any other help.
Yours in education,
Steve Raff
