Murray's Gifted Gab
April 2019
A Note From Mrs. Shook
It's hard to believe that it is time to start thinking toward the 2019-2020 school year. Last night, we met the rising 6th grade Falcons and many of our Beta Club students helped them tour the building and stamped their BINGO cards.
According to Parenting Gifted Children, "Service is a need of the gifted. When gifted children find their paths of service, they experience a deep sense of fulfillment, as if there is a reason that they are here." It helps students develop emotional intelligence, reasoning skills, and develops self-esteem. Many of our gifted students are already involved in Beta Club and SGA which are great ways for students to volunteer. However, you can also volunteer based on passions you may have such as working with students with disabilities (Falcon Friends), volunteering at the Raptor Center or Aquarium, or simply visiting a rest home.
You may have received a second copy of your DEP (if yours wasn't signed). It seems like DEPS make it into backpacks and lockers and don't quite make it back to me. f you received a second copy, please sign and return it so that I have it on file.
We have a couple of awesome events coming up at school for all students. One is the Murray Dinner Theater and the other is our Poetry Slam. Tickets are on sale now for the Dinner Theater.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Shook
