Dear Parent/Guardian,
We are adding a layer of support to help our bus drivers more easily identify our youngest student riders as they unload at their respective bus stops. Your Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and 1st-grade students will have a color-coded bus badge attached to their backpacks by their teachers in the coming days. The bus badge will list your student’s name, grade, school, bus route, and bus stop location. This will serve as a visual tool for the driver to better monitor these students as they ride and exit the bus at their bus stop. Parents will also receive a corresponding color-coded official bus placard needed daily for student pickup at the bus stop. Each student will receive three bus placards.
Bus badges must be worn daily to ride the bus. In the event your Pre-K, Kinder, or 1st-grade student does not wear their badge they will not be transported. Should the parent/guardian/designee forget or misplace the bus placard for pickup, they will need to step to the side and allow all other students to disembark the bus. The parent/guardian/designee will need to present a legal form of photo identification (Driver’s license, Identification card or Passport) for official verification to be released. The driver will need to contact Dispatch to confirm authorization to release. This procedure will be followed and enforced for the safety of your student. Replacement bus badges and bus placards are available by emailing buses@pisd.edu and requesting a replacement bus badge. Please include your student’s campus, name, and student ID number.

STUDENTS ARE ONLY TO USE THE DESIGNATED BUS STOP LISTED ON HIS/HER BUS BADGE FOR PICK UP AND DROP OFF.
● Students are assigned to bus stops based on their home address and the campuses serving that address. Due to safety concerns, students may not use alternate bus stops or bus routes.
● Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and 1st-grade parent/guardian/designee must have an official bus placard to receive the Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and 1st-grade student at the bus stop. If the official bus placard is not available, a legal picture ID will be requested to confirm the Emergency Contact list using TEAMS of whom the student may be released.
● All-day Pre-Kindergarten students attending an Elementary campus may be released to a 3rd-grade or older sibling with prior completion of the Sibling Authorization form (https://forms.gle/idVTTs74SaNaPucW6) and written request from the parent/guardian to the student’s teacher. Parents must be at the stops to meet Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and 1st-grade students at the designated pick-up time. A student will not be dropped off unless a parent/guardian/designee is there to meet them with the corresponding color-coded bus placard (provided). In the event a parent is not at the bus stop to receive the student or does not have proper identification the student will be returned and escorted into the designated home campus office. You will be required to go inside the designated home campus with an official picture identification before the student will be released. A Bus Safety Violation Notice will be issued. After three reports the student may be temporarily suspended from the bus. If this occurs more than three times the student will be denied bus transportation for a period of time to be determined by the campus. Parent/guardian/designee must come to the bus door with the bus placard to ensure the driver can confirm a safe handoff on camera. This is for the safety of the child.
● Students in the 2nd grade may be released without a parent/guardian/designee or older sibling. Please note: We are not able to release younger siblings to a 2nd-grade student.
● Children must remain seated while on the bus and follow all school bus safety rules. Please work with us to help the student understand the importance of bus safety.
● There (are/maybe) bus assistants riding on the buses to help ensure the student's safety.

Estamos añadiendo una forma extra de apoyo a los conductores/choferes de autobús para ayudarles a identificar más facilmente a nuestros estudiantes más pequeños cuando bajan en sus respectivas paradas de autobús. Sus estudiantes de Pre-K, Kínder y 1er. grado tendrán un gafete de autobús distinguido por un color diferente para cada nivel, que será adjunto a sus mochilas por sus maestros en los próximos días. Dicho gafete de autobús listará el nombre de su estudiante, el grado, la escuela, la ruta de autobús y la ubicación de la parada del autobús. Esto servirá como una herramienta visual para el chofer para llevar un mejor control de los estudiantes a la hora de subir y bajar del autobús en sus paradas. Los padres también recibirán una tarjeta de identificación correspondiente con el código de colores que se necesite diariamente para recoger a los alumnos en la parada del autobús. Cada estudiante recibirá tres tarjetas identificativas de colores.
Los gafetes deben llevarse puestos diariamente para subir al autobús. Si por algún motivo su estudiante de Pre-K, Kínder, o 1er grado no trae puesto su gafete identificativo el estudiante no será transportado. Si el padre/tutor/persona designada se olvida o pierde la tarjeta de color para recogerlos, necesitarán hacerse a un lado y permitir que todos los otros estudiantes bajen del autobús. El padre/tutor/persona designada necesitará presentar una forma legal de identificación con foto (licencia de conducir, credencial de identificación o pasaporte) para poder verificar y dejar ir al estudiante. El chofer tendrá que ponerse en contacto con el despacho correspondiente para confirmar la autorización. Este procedimiento se seguirá al pie de la letra y se hará cumplir por y para la seguridad de su estudiante. Para reemplazar gafetes de autobús y tarjetas de colores perdidos para recoger a su estudiante tendrá que enviar un correo electrónico a buses@pisd.edu solicitando un gafete de reemplazo. Por favor, incluya nombre completo del estudiante, su número de identificación y el nombre de la escuela.
Revise los siguientes recordatorios para ayudarnos a servir mejor a su estudiante.
LOS ESTUDIANTES SOLO DEBEN USAR LA PARADA DE AUTOBÚS DESIGNADA EN SU GAFETE PARA SUBIR Y BAJAR DEL AUTOBÚS.
● Los estudiantes son asignados a las paradas de autobús basados en su dirección de casa y las escuelas que sirven a esa dirección. Por razones de seguridad, los estudiantes no pueden usar paradas o rutas alternativas.
● Para Pre- K, Kínder y 1er grado el padre/tutor/persona designada deberá tener una tarjeta oficial identificativa de color para recibir al estudiante en la parada de autobús. Si la tarjeta de color no está disponible, una identificación legal con foto será solicitada para confirmar con la lista de contactos de emergencia usando TEAMS para confirmar con quién puede irse el estudiante.
● Los estudiantes de Pre-K que asisten todo el día a una escuela primaria pueden ser liberados a un hermano/a de 3º grado o mayor llenando previamente el formulario de
“Autorización de Hermanos”(https://forms.gle/idVTTs74SaNaPucW6) y la solicitud por escrito del padre/tutor al maestro del estudiante. Los padres deben estar en las paradas para recibir a los estudiantes de Pre-K, Kínder y 1er grado a la hora designada para recogerlos. El estudiante no bajará del autobus a menos que un padre/tutor/persona designada esté allí para encontrarlos con la tarjeta correspondiente de colores (proporcionada por nosotros). En el caso de que uno de los padres no esté en la parada del autobús para recibir al estudiante, o no tenga la identificación adecuada, el estudiante será devuelto y escoltado a la oficina designada de la escuela de origen. Se le pedirá que entre a la escuela con una identificación oficial con foto antes de que el estudiante sea liberado. Se le emitirá un “Reporte de Violación de Reglas de Seguridad del Autobús”. Después de tres reportes el estudiante puede ser suspendido temporalmente del autobús. Si esto ocurre más de tres veces se le negará el transporte en autobús por un período de tiempo que será determinado por la escuela. El padre/tutor/persona designada deberá venir a la puerta del autobús con la tarjeta identificativa de color para asegurar que el chofer pueda confirmar un traspaso seguro delante de la cámara. Esto es por la seguridad del estudiante.
● Los estudiantes en 2º grado pueden ser liberados sin un padre/tutor/designado o hermano mayor. Por favor note: No podemos entregar hermanos menores a un estudiante de 2do grado.
● Los niños deben permanecer sentados en el autobús y seguir todas las reglas de seguridad del autobús escolar. Por favor trabaje con nosotros para ayudar al estudiante a entender la importancia de la seguridad en el autobús.
● Hay o puede haber asistentes de autobús que viajan en los autobuses para ayudar a garantizar la seguridad de los estudiantes.
