Dreaming Big in 2016

I love January. There's something about the first few weeks of the new year. It's like opening up a new book and starting the first chapter. There are so many possibilities, so much potential; the time is right for big ideas, and big dreams. Here's to a new chapter and new beginnings.

Happy 2016 Eubank!

One School One Book - The BFG

This February brings the start of Eubank's second One School One Book celebration! This time we will be reading what Roald Dahl considered his favorite book - The BFG!

Originally published in 1982, the BFG is a wonderful story of young orphan Sophie and the BFG (Big Friendly Giant). "The BFG is no ordinary bone-crunching giant. He is far too nice and jumbly. It's lucky for Sophie that he is. Had she been carried off in the middle of the night by the Bloodbottler, or any of the other giants—rather than the BFG—she would have soon become breakfast. When Sophie hears that the giants are flush-bunking off to England to swollomp a few nice little chiddlers, she decides she must stop them once and for all. And the BFG is going to help her!" (The New York Times Book Review)

Family copies of the BFG will be distributed on Friday, January 29th. Day 1 of our One School One Book read will begin on Monday, February 1st. Be sure to check the resource section below for some interesting resources you can use related to this fantastic book and the amazing Roald Dahl!.

The BFG - Kick Off assembly!

Please plan on joining us in the cafeteria on Friday, January 29th for our kick off assembly celebrating our next school-wide read, The BFG! This will be a short assembly, approximately 15-20 minutes.

Assembly Times:
8:15 Grades 3-5
8:45 Grades K-2

Everything starts with a DREAM

Take a look at the people and the holidays we celebrate at the start of every new year; New Year's Day, Martin Luther King's birthday, President's Day; each of these important dates center around a dream for a better tomorrow. Shoot - even the poor groundhog's dreams are interrupted so he can be pulled out into the open as we dream of warmer weather!

As you work to develop the critical thinking, creativity and writing skills of your students take a moment to consider some of these interesting reads available in our library. You just might help one of your students tap into the very dream that changes tomorrow into a better day.

There are many different ways to incorporate music and instruments into your instruction in a controlled way. Take a look at some of these possible ideas and stop by the library today to find what you need!
