Principal's Message
January 10, 2020
Dear Willink Families,
It’s a new decade and a busy month coming up at Willink. We had several musical concerts this week with more to come next Tuesday and Wednesday - it’s always great to see learning through performance and I always leave these concerts impressed by our students and our music department.
Next week is also the beginning of some exciting steps for our 8th grade students as they begin the process of transitioning from middle school to high school. On Monday night, all 8th grade students and families are invited to Thomas High School to attend Titan Night. Teachers and administrators will be offering information on courses and general things to know about the high school experience. I would highly encourage our 8th grade families to attend - the event begins at 6pm at the high school. Following Titan Night, 8th graders will participate in Titan Day on Tuesday where high school teachers and students visit Willink to continue presentations about high school course offerings. On Wednesday, we will host professionals from our community and beyond who will speak about their experiences during “Career Day.” I want to thank Mr. Mitchell, Ms. Kleehammer, and our entire counseling department for going the extra mile to create this experience for our students. Likewise, a big thanks to Dr. Berger, and Mrs. LaBelle for working behind the scenes to make Titan Day a possibility. (We are also very appreciative of Mr. Widor and all our friends at Thomas for hosting Titan Night and for taking the time to speak to our students on Titan Day). Letters are being mailed home to all Willink families today with information about upcoming course registration (look for them early next week).
As always, I hope you can take a few moments to look through the information and opportunities listed below. Congrats to Frau Brucker for her well earned award from the American Association of Teachers of German - you make us all “Stolz”!
I also want to draw your attention to a quickly approaching yearbook deadline. Yearbooks must be pre-ordered and this can be completed by following this link or the linked photos below. Students who do not pre-order will likely not be able to acquire a yearbook in the spring. Please consider making this order ASAP if you or your child would like this year’s yearbook. https://www.jostens.com/yearbooks/high-school-yearbooks.html
Have a great weekend and Happy New Year!
