Meet Mrs. Vanderah
Born in Ohio, raised in Arizona. U of A undergraduate and collegiate gymnast. UNM graduate school. Started education career working for the government schools. Teaching experience in three states. Have traveled thirty one states and eight countries. I married my wonderful husband twenty years ago and have three boys of my own. We love adventure, sports, and time with each other. It is an honor to be here working at Jacobson Elementary with such an amazingly talented teaching staff.

Favorite food: Watermelon, popcorn
Favorite Book: Message from Nam by Danielle Steel
Fun Fact: I love the outdoors and adventure. I also love music!
Favorite vacation spot: Where- ever the beauty of the outdoors takes your breath away (Lake Emerald, Lake Louise, Alaska, Emerald Isle, Breckenridge)

There is a friendly typing competition between grade level classes happening in technology over the next few months!

4th Grade - Mrs. Banas’ Class - 19 WPM Average
5th Grade - Mrs. Vanderah’s Class - 28 WPM Average
6th Grade - Mr. Savage and Mrs. Kinderknect are tied with an average of 30 WPM
Book Tasting!
This weekend the library students, in grades three through five, had reservations to “taste” some books. Students rotated around tables to sample books from different genres that they have been learning about in library. Mrs. E. hopes that students will learn to love reading books outside their comfort zones and find new books to love!

RUNNING CLUB STARTS NOV. 9TH
Great Job with the New Entry on the West Side!
WHO: ALL K-2 Parents who drop off in the morning. Kinder parents will still drop off by the kinder gate as usual.
WHAT: Students will now enter through the large gate closer to the office instead of the smaller gate at the playground.
WHERE: On the K-2 (West) side of the school.
WHEN: Starting Monday, August 30th.
WHY: This will help drop off go smoother.
HOW: We will communicate this multiple times before Monday. There will be large signs reminding parents to keep pulling forward. Be on the lookout!
