Captain's Log - Carpool

It appears that we are back to having problems with cars backing up on Kelly Road during carpool. I am asking carpool families to consider staggering your arrival time for drop-off in the morning and, more importantly, during afternoon dismissal to avoid long back-ups in Kelly Road.

Arrival is from 8:45 - 9:10. You may queue up at any point during this window.

For dismissal, rather than a large number of cars queuing up at 3:45, if you could stagger your arrival to the school to 3:50, 3:55, or even 4:00, that would help alleviate the congestion. We ask that you build this new time into your carpool routine moving forward.

As I have mentioned earlier, if we cannot remedy this, we will have to move to double stacking our carpool lane (using both inbound lanes in the school driveway). This will close off the parking lot to all visitors as soon as people begin to arrive for carpool, which for us is usually around 3:20 in the afternoon and as early as 8:30 in the morning. Captain Stephens of the Apex Police Department would prefer we double stack, but I would like to avoid this as I believe it will only create another set of problems for our families trying to get into our school for after school conferences and other activities.

I am hoping you can make this shift as you did before to help alleviate the congestion on Kelly Road. Thank you for your assistance.

The Book Fair is Coming!

The Fall Scholastic Book Fair is coming soon!

The money raised from book fair sales goes directly back into a Scholastic account for our school that Ms. Lanier uses to purchase new books. She was able to purchase over $10,000 of books at the end of last year.

Our teachers have already begun signing up for preview and purchase times for their classes. The sale will run from Tuesday, September 4th through Friday the 14th and we could really use your help.

Sign up to join us in the Media Center. You will help the younger students write out their Wish Lists during preview days and help with sales at the registers. We especially need help during our special Grandparents' Breakfast hours (7:45 -8:45 a.m.) on the two Fridays of our book fair.

The Book Fair is an exciting reading event and a great way to volunteer for our school.
