We need your input- MTE Family Focus Groups!
Dear families,
Our school is working on our 3-year School Improvement Plan, and we need your input to plan our direction for the coming years. Your input is valuable! We still need many families to sign up, so please consider joining us! Thank you!
Here are the details:
Who: MTE Parents and Guardians
What: Parent Focus Groups
Where: MTE Community Room
When:
May 6th: 1:30 - 3:00
May 14th: 1:30 - 3:00
May 20th: 1:30 - 3:00
Childcare and interpreters will be available.
Why: Because we want to hear your voices in order to better serve our students and our families. We will be exploring questions such as:
- What can our school do to strengthen your child's cultural identity in order to help them feel proud of who they are.
- How can we better share the social, emotional, or academic progress your student is making?
Focus for May 6th: A general session for families whose students do not receive special education or English learning services.
Focus for May 14th: Parents of students who receive special education.
Focus for May 20th: Parents of students who receive English Learning services, thus speak another language at home
We need five to ten adults for each group. This will be on a first come first serve basis. One adult per family please. If you can join one of these focus groups, please email fahrenwaldp@edmonds.wednet.edu as soon as possible with the following information:
1) Your name and your child(ren)'s name.
2) Which session you would like to attend.
3) Do you need child care?
4) Do you need an interpreter? If yes, which language?
5) Your best contact information.
Thank you!
We’re a Lexia Champion School!
Hello families,
We have been selected by Lexia Learning as a Lexia Superstar School. This is because of our high level of student use, and of our students’ progress. This high level of progress is especially true for students who meet their recommended usage. It's great stuff!
Lexia will be including MTE as an example of the positive impacts of their software, and the power of regular usage. They are extremely impressed with the progress of our students, and our implementation. This is GREAT! We have a banner that will hang in our school very soon.
Our Lexia Customer Brief is attached for your reading enjoyment. Please notice some important things that are noted in the letter:
"Of students meeting their recommended usage, the percentage of students working in or above grade level in Core5 rose dramatically from 67% to 95% in less than one school year."
"The percentage of students below grade level reduced from 33% to 5% in less than one year."
"On average, Mountlake Terrace Elementary students who are meeting their recommended usage have completed 237 unity and mastered 15 skills so far this year!"
Did you know that you can access this powerful program from home? You can access this for free, all year long on our school’s site license (including the summer!) If you don’t have access yet, contact your teacher right away. This is a tool you don’t want to miss!
Great work, MTE students, families, and educators!!!
Doug Johnson, Principal
