What are we learning?
READING: We will still be building our reading stamina and reviewing what "reading to self" looks like. We are spending this week and part of next week reviewing the skills we have learned this year in preparation for MAP testing. We are still reading Wonder, but should finish before the holiday break.
WRITING: We have just finished our first informational writing piece on Bigfoot. We will continue with informational writing but will focus on responding to questions about a paired text.
GRAMMAR: We are still learning about prepositions this week and will practice figurative language later this week and next.
PHONICS: We are doing LOTS of activities with syllables, specifically R controlled syllables. Our weekly spelling words are intended to help the students learn how to correctly spell the vowel team and/or skill for a particular week. This is the list of words: bargain, corner, former, torn, urgent, important, sturdy, and forty.
SCIENCE: We are finishing up our weather unit this week.
SOCIAL STUDIES: We will begin learning about Westward Expansion next week.
