St Jerome's Newsletter
Week 5 - Term 2 (Thursday 30 May 2019)
Dear Parents and members of our school community
“Where there is love there is courage,
where there is courage there is peace,
where there is peace there is God.
And when you have God, you have everything."
WA DAY - Monday 3 June
PUPIL FREE DAY - Tuesday 4 June
Illness at School
Many children have experienced severe cold and flu type illnesses plus nasty tummy bugs recently. It would be great if we can all review our hand washing practices to help reduce the spread of such illnesses. We look forward to seeing children back at school and learning with their friends after fully recovering. The four day break coming up this weekend should give the students time to rest and recover.
School Drop Off and Pick Up Safety
To ensure our children and families enter and leave our school safely it is vital that we use the surrounding roads and our car parks responsibly with patience and common sense. I know mornings and afternoons are busy times for families but when it comes to this time of the day, safety is a priority. I ask that everyone in our community models safe driving and pedestrian behaviour for our children.
In particular, I urge you to slow down when entering or exiting the car park. Also, if your child is in classes above Year 1, they are able to wait very safely under the supervision of our teachers in the drive through waiting area. There is no need to start lining up along Rockingham Road at 2.50pm, causing potential for accidents as people try to pass the line of cars.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment and support for working with us and supporting your children either in person at school or from home. This is a wonderful community full of so many families and opportunities for learning and growing together.

Plastic bottle tops recycled to make artificial hands for children damaged by war.
Please help us by collecting plastic bottle tops from any kind of container that you have at home and bringing them along to the school office or the church lobby where you will find a box to place them in. Spread the word among your family and friends about this wonderful initiative and start collecting so that we can make a difference to those children affected so tragically by war. We will be making a difference to these children and also helping our environment.
Thank you for your support.
Best wishes

Lapathon - Friday 7 June
On Friday afternoon 7th June we are again holding our Lapathon for Lifelink and the other charities we support. The Lapathon is our main fundraiser for the year and the St Jerome’s parents, families and friends have always been amazing supporters. The sponsorship forms went home last week and we hope that families will be able to generously support their children and this worthwhile cause. The children always enjoy the afternoon where they get to jog around the oval for 20 minutes trying to do as many laps as possible. The Lapathon is also an opportunity for those participating to show how fit they have become over the past year, with children hoping to beat their record from the previous year! Parents are most welcome to join in and complete their daily fitness requirements ….the more the merrier!
