Superintendent Deborah Rumbaugh’s Friday Message, 11.12.21 (Repeat)

Hello Families,

As we celebrate Veterans Day this year, I pause to not only honor all of our country’s veterans, but the ones in my family as well. My grandfather, Lee Cobble, served as an Army Ranger in WWII and the Korean War. He was a POW in both. I recall my grandfather as a strong and humble man; dedicated to his family and fiercely dedicated to his country. He exemplified, for me, what it means to serve your country, love your family, and care for others, despite personal circumstances and adversity. I want to extend a “thank you” to those that have served and are serving in the Armed Forces.

Join us in Creating a Strategic Plan!

Our district has begun a comprehensive Strategic Planning process. The strategic plan acts as a roadmap for our school system. Its primary aim is to create a shared vision, common goals, and unified direction for our district’s educational efforts. Community-wide involvement is vital and we are designing the process in ways that will embrace the diverse voices of our district.

Families are asked to please complete a brief survey about you and your child’s experience in the Stanwood-Camano School District. The survey link is HERE. Students completed a similar survey over the past week. Please watch a brief video from me describing the strategic planning process.

Community members are invited to serve as members of the five planning teams. The teams will include students, parents, community representatives, teachers, administrators, and staff. members of our School Board of Directors will be involved as well. If you are interested in joining one of the strategic planning teams, please complete a registration form here.

Open house at Stanwood High School and Church Creek Campus Saturday, Dec. 11

With the pandemic, many in our community have not had the opportunity to see inside the new Stanwood High School and the Church Creek Campus, home to Lincoln Hill High School, Lincoln Academy and Saratoga School. We are so incredibly grateful to our community for its support of the 2017 bond that funded the construction of both campuses.

Both sites will hold an open house on Saturday, Dec. 11:

  • Stanwood HS from 10 a.m. to 12 noon

  • Church Creek from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Following a brief opening ceremony, both buildings will be open for self-guided tours.
