All School Letter
December 9, 2021
Please read about the events under this short letter. There are quite a few things going on! Next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are early release days. Please pick up by 12:45.
Late Tuesday night the Fairbanks School Board voted to make masks optional starting in January. According to what they communicated in their meeting, charter schools are to follow their ruling. The information sent to families prior to their meeting stated that charters would follow the ruling of their own APCs, something that has been supported by the district since the start of the pandemic, but an amendment to the motion was made, to include charters and schools on military bases. More information to come. Please email Christina with any questions.
In the past week, we have had 1 COVID positive case in our school. Please continue to monitor symptoms and get a molecular or PCR test before sending your child back to school. Students who are close contacts need to quarantine at home. Please familiarize yourself with the information at the bottom of this newsletter. Christina can answer your COVID questions.

Chinook Talent Show
Students who would like to participate must show their performance on Monday, December 13 to Abby & Baylee. Performances need to be 3 minutes or less and come prepared with any materials needed. There will not be cuts, but students (with your help!) will need to make sure they are prepared. To help strengthen performances, some practice will happen at school, but a majority of it should take place at home!
The school-wide performance will take place on Friday, January 7th. (New date)

Sick Students & COVID Positive Cases
Keeping your child home from school due to symptoms?
Contact Kat(email or call) in the office to excuse an absence due to illness. Please let us know about any symptoms, exposure, a positive test or if your child is a close contact.
If your child is out of school due to symptoms, we will need a copy of the PCR test results for them to return (if you choose to test). PCR testing is available through the district at three different locations. You will need your child's s numbers to schedule. Use this link to schedule a test: https://www.picktime.com/FNSBSD
My child is a close contact, what do I do?
It is still public health guidance and CDC guidance that close contacts who are not vaccinated quarantine. Please follow medical professional guidance, and do not send students who are close contacts to school. All children 5+ are now able to be vaccinated.
My child is a tested positive, what do I do?
Please let us know and contact public health (or their doctor) to determine when they can return to school.
Someone in my child's class tested positive, what do I do?
Monitor for any sign of COVID symptoms, if they do not have symptoms, they can be at school. Chinook now has antigen tests (tests for students who are not showing any symptoms) and can offer testing to students in the class 1-2 times after their last contact with the positive individual. This option will allow us to keep as many students in school as possible and see if transmission within the class is happening.
