The Week in Review...
During days 1-3, campers will examine the vertical progression of the ELA standards from Kindergarten through Grade 12 through activities designed to stimulate thinking around the critical role of scaffolding instruction to meet the needs of all learners. Each day, campers will have the opportunity to partake in break out sessions to further develop skills in the areas of assessment and instructional technology, or may choose to use this time as Design Time. "Design Time" allows participants to continue to collaborate, plan and network with colleagues, with IES Staff Developers available for consultation and guidance during this time. Campers will be asked to consider sharing resources developed to promote regional collegiality.
Days 4 & 5 will be devoted to "Design Time". This will allow participants to continue to collaborate, plan and network with colleagues. IES Staff Developers will be available for consultation and guidance during this time to ensure guidance and support is available for personal projects and learning from Days 1-3 can be fully realized. Campers will be asked to consider sharing resources developed to promote regional collegiality. In preparation for our sessions, campers should consider major topics and learning targets for the first quarter, as well as bring texts, resources and other materials which will be utilized during design time.
Highlights:
● Examine the grade-level progression of specific Common Core Learning Standards for ELA speaking and listening, reading, and writing through a variety of texts.
● Design formative assessments which measure students’ understanding of those standards, using different application (app) technologies.
● Days 4 & 5 - Continue to develop learning from Days 1-3 or other projects to support upcoming instruction with guidance (if solicited) with IES Staff Developers.
● Each camp will share resources and learning via Google + Communities, Edmodo, and Twitter. It is highly recommended to create and join at least one of these platforms. You may also like to bring your own laptop or tablet to use during the design time and digital technology break-out sessions. (IES computers will be available on a limited basis)
