Lawrence Labrador Lowdown

August 18, 2023

Urgent: Please Read

If you are escorting a student to class in the morning, you must park in the school parking lot, church parking lot on Enos, or surrounding streets. This includes one family member waiting in the car while another walks their child on campus. No cars will be allowed to wait in the car drop off lines (Lane A and Lane B). This procedure will be strongly enforced. By following this procedure initially, you will prevent unkind interactions from occurring during drop off. We strive to be a leadership school and kindly request all adults follow expectations too.

Morning Procedures

  • Adult supervision will not be provided before 8:15 a.m.**
  • Parents may wait with their children by the TK/K Entrance Gate, Front Gate, or Solar Panel Gate until the gates open at approximately 8:20 a.m.
  • Campus gates will open at 8:20 a.m. Students have the option to enter through any of the gates. Parents may accompany their child on campus to their classroom's designated area.
  • Students will walk directly to their classrooms at 8:20 a.m.
  • After students enter the classroom at 8:30 a.m., parents must exit campus so staff may lock the gates to secure the campus.
  • Students will be considered tardy if they arrive after 8:30 a.m.

Safety:

  • Please acknowledge painted curbs and abide motor vehicles and traffic laws. This includes keeping handicap, permit only, and loading zones open for those authorized to park in the areas. Additional parking is available on surrounding streets and in the church parking lot on Enos.

**Exception: Students who are eating breakfast at school may enter the MPR from 8:00-8:20 a.m. All students who get breakfast will be excused from the MPR at 8:20 a.m. to line up. See additional information below regarding Universal Free Breakfast and Lunch.

Afterschool Procedures

Parent Pick-Up From Classrooms

  • Campus gates will open 5 minutes prior to dismissal (1:25 and 2:45).
  • Parent guardians may walk straight to the area outside of their child's classroom and wait for the teacher to dismiss students.
  • All students in Grades 1-5 will be released to parents or Right at School After School Program at 2:50 when the bell rings.
  • Students in Grades 1-5 who do not have a parent present outside of the classroom (i.e.: parent is using car valet line, outside shuttle service, or are walking) will head to the front of the school. Students will wait for their parents in the designated area. At approximately 3:00, students who have not been picked up will be escorted to the office.

Parent Pick-Up Procedures From Vehicle

  • Students must be picked up in the valet line if the driver is planning to stay in the vehicle. Students may not be picked up in the back parking lot or on Portola Avenue.
  • Pull your car as far forward as possible in Lane A.
  • If the car ahead of you drives away, pull forward so that you are as close to the front of the valet line as possible.
  • Students should enter vehicles from the right side of the vehicle.
  • Be patient and courteous.
  • Drive slowly and with caution.

Safety:

  • Do not leave your vehicle unattended during pick-up and drop-off times.
  • Please acknowledge painted curbs and abide motor vehicles and traffic laws. This includes keeping handicap, permit only, and loading zones open for those authorized to park in the areas. Additional parking is available on surrounding streets.
