2020-2021

Updates!

Today we are kicking off a whole building math facts challenge! We are challenging all Lyon students to increase math fluency by practicing math facts at home. Third graders are focused on multiplication with factors of 0-10.

Please check your child's backpack for more information on the math challenge. You will find an information sheet along with a "treasure map" for students to track the time they practice. Completed treasure maps can be returned to school for a small prize! Students can complete as many treasure maps as they want until the end of the challenge on April 30.

Each week during the challenge your child will bring home a Game of the Week to play. We will also track progress here at school each week with Fluency Fridays. I am looking forward to seeing the progress each student makes in fact fluency during this month!

Wired Headphones for MAP Testing

In preparation for MAP testing, all students need to have a pair of WIRED headphones. Wireless headphones are not a great option due to connectivity issues at times. Please check with your student to make sure he/she has a working pair of WIRED headphones. It would be good to also ensure your child has a working external mouse if he/she wishes to use one. The school will not be able to provide batteries to all wireless mice, so be sure to check with your child if batteries are needing to be replaced to finish out the year.

From the Lyon Office

  • We encourage you to get out and vote THIS TUESDAY! The district would love your support. For more information visit: https://www.republicschools.org/bondissue
  • Be sure to check out the Boy Elementary Basketball camp for grades 2nd through 5th. The following link to register is: (https://forms.gle/5B8uP4hCEu1QYHTF6). Register is due by April 20th.
  • Locker 518 and Price Tag are back open for business!!! For those new to us, these are FREE clothing stores at Price Elementary available to all K-12 students during designated shopping times. During the pandemic the stores have remained closed with a few personal shopping requests being done by Erin Wayt. The stores are now going to be open for in-person shopping on an appointment basis. Can you all please share this flyer in your building and classroom communications? With seasons changing soon we know many of our families are in need of clothing/shoes. Thank you!
