Patriot's Pen 2020
Week 17: January 6-10
A Message from Mireles
Hoping your break has been restful, filled with tons of couch potato time, sleeping-in and hopefully some productivity as well. I've been doing all of the above, and it's been wonderful.
We visited with friends we hadn't seen in ages, got quite a few in-home projects done, and hosted New Year's Eve!
I hope each of you has been able to spend time with loved ones, reconnect, and above all, take some time for yourself.
Thinking back on 2019, there have been so many wonderful memories, not without a few ups and downs, but so much to build upon and substantial progress!
Who's ready to begin a new decade? Who's ready to make plans, get re-energized and beat every record? When I think about the future of Rawlinson, the next ten years, the teachers and the students here, it is very, very exciting!
Cheers & welcome 2020!
Farewell & the best of luck to Audrey Abell as a NISD Elementary Counselor! Once a Patriot, always a Patriot!

Blanca's Blurb!
This time of year is the perfect opportunity to reflect on the past and make resolutions for the upcoming year. Here are a few suggestions for making 2020 better for you and your students:
1. Talk less - Empower your students to take charge of their learning
2. More meetings - Yes, I said more meetings! One-on-ones with students are great for informal assessments, rotations with projects or activities, and more importantly, to foster that relationship you've been trying to cultivate
3. Up your tech tools - Technology, when used effectively, can streamline administrative tasks, increase individualization, and bolster higher-level thinking, so go for it!
PATRIOT GAMES GRANT SUBMISSION DEADLINE: January 10th @ 4:00 PM
Patriot Games Purpose:
Teachers are given an "in house" grant opportunity to enhance their curriculum. All items purchased, are for student use and become the property of RMS as intended by Rawlinson PTA.

Wondering what to buy? Here are some examples.

Student Accolades & Celebrations
Front Office Notes
- Frequently, we get students sent to the front office (or Counseling, VPO) to run errands for teachers. More often than not, when they get to us, they cannot remember or convey what they are there for. We kindly ask that you consider giving them written instructions so that we don't have to guess or delay your request by trying to figure it out. Thank you for helping us to help you!
- Please remember to take all of your copies with you from the work rooms, not to print-and-forget, and to recycle what needs to be recycled. Every person gets to clean up after themselves, please! Also, glossy paper/wrappers are not recyclable paper. Please put that, and laminating film, in the trash cans.
Super Hero - Congratulations, Mrs. Brandt!
She also is very service-driven dedicated to her students in NJHS. Mrs. Brandt continually shows students that learning is a lifelong commitment and desire. Congratulations, Mrs. Brandt for being Rawlinson's unsung Superhero!!!
Super Hero - Congratulations, Ms. Peña!
