Strategic Plan Feedback Requested
Hello D103 Community,
In the 2019-2020 school year, the District 103 Strategic Planning Committee worked on a new strategic plan for the District for the next five years. In the Spring of 2020, the COVID pandemic suspended the work as we transitioned to a new way of conducting school. This past summer, the committee reconvened and completed its work. First, the committee finalized the Portrait of a Graduate that will serve as our “North Star” and guide the District’s work to ensure our students grow to become engaged, successful leaders and citizens in our global community. It provides a strategic direction for the design of the educational experience for students. The six competencies of the Portrait are:
Adaptability
Collaboration
Critical Thinking
Empathy
Global Citizenship
Perseverance
Using the Portrait of a Graduate as a guide, the Strategic Planning Committee created four main goal areas with a strategic goal for each area.
Main Goal Area 1 – Critical Thinking/Problem Solving
Strategic Goal 1 - Provide authentic learning experiences that require students to ask questions for understanding to address complex real-world issues.
Main Goal Area 2 – Individualized Learning
Strategic Goal 2 - Provide opportunities for all students to advance their individual academic knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Main Goal Area 3 – Social/Emotional Learning
Strategic Goal 3 - Develop well-balanced citizens through a robust implementation of State Social Emotional standards to create safe, healthy, and just communities.
Main Goal Area 4 - Infrastructure
Strategic Goal 4 - Creation of adaptable learning environments that are responsive to enrollment trends, Human Resources needs, and curricular programming.
The District is asking for community feedback regarding these goals. Please take a few minutes to review the goals and submit your feedback to the District by Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 5:00 p.m.
The Board will review the feedback at a future Board meeting, revise the goals as necessary, and then adopt the final plan. The plan will outline the work for the district for the next five years.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement in the District as we raise our Leaders in Learning!
All the best,
Scott Warren, Ed.D
Superintendent of D103 Schools
