City States In Greece
Ancient Greece was not a country with a single government. Instead of one goverment ancient Greece was divided into hundreds of city states. So each city-state had its own government, laws, and customs.
Where Is Greece
Greece is the the Balkan Peninsula, it extends southward into the eastern Mediterranean Sea. The mountains divided Greeks from see each other, but the seas allowed them to go see the world outside of them. Greece had hundreds of bays, it became safe harbors for ships. The Greeks were sailors. They often carried cargoes of olive oil, wine, and marble. They returned with grains and metals and they learn new ideas which they used to help themselves with problems.
