Changes to students' buses
Some changes are being made to students' bus routes. If your child rides bus # 14, 11, 6, or 9, there may be changes as to when they are picked up in the morning, or when they get dropped off in the afternoon. These changes will take effect starting Monday, September 23. Notifications of route changes were sent home with affected students yesterday afternoon; if your child did NOT come home with a letter from the bus company, there are no changes to their bussing.
If your student rides bus #14, please know this route is being eliminated. Students who ride this bus will instead be assigned to another route -- this information should have come home yesterday. Please check backpacks and folders for updated bus information!!
Again, all changes take effect on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23.
Planned Absences
With fall travel and hunting season, we want to remind families that filling out a pre-approved absence form can allow students up to 5 additional absences during the school year. This also helps teachers plan for and prepare work for when your student will be gone. Please fill out and turn the form in to the teacher at least a week in advance, so the office has time to process the form and return it to you.

Notes from the Nurse
- If your child has any health condition requiring medication ie: asthma, a food allergy, bee sting allergy or takes medication, please notify the nurse. In addition, orders from the physician should be given to the nurse regarding your child’s health condition.
- With the start of school comes the possibility of lice. Please remind you student not to share hats, brushes or anything that can come in contact with hair. You can prevent lice by doing weekly lice checks at home, and by informing yourself. Please click here for a great resource on everything you need to know about lice.
- Northwoods Dental Seal-A-Smile program will be at MJ1 Schools on November 13-14 to offer dental sealants to all 2nd and 6th graders. A dental sealant is a thin plastic coating that covers the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (molars), where most decay occurs. Northwoods Dental sets up a portable dental clinic at school so children can receive an oral health exam, dental sealants (if necessary), dental supplies and oral health education. You should have received a letter and permission form (click here), which we are still accepting here in the front office. Or, you can click here to sign your child up.
