The Latest and Greatest News for Churchill Families

March Madness

Thank you for your continued support as we adjust to our new schedule and transition to hybrid learning. We have an ALL-STAR team here at Churchill, and your positivity and patience have helped us through these times of change. We are here for you too. Your questions and feedback are important to us. When you reach out to share your experiences with in-person or remote learning, it allows us to continue to learn and grow in serving each and every one of our families.

Churchill Connection and Celebration

Announcements is an opportunity for our whole school to come together. With our schedule change, we moved announcements so they will take place every Friday at 12:15pm. Students will receive an email each Friday at 12:05 to log-in and join the fun. The link is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85659289727 and is for students only. We have only enough webinar seats for students. Recordings of the announcement are posted for students who missed or families on our website each week.

Our PBIS team recently presented a refresh of Bulldog Best expectations and has BIG plans for a Trimester 2 celebration on Friday, March 26th. Stay tuned for more details on some fun activities all students can participate in on our next School Improvement Day (3/26).

Notes from the Churchill Playbook

Arrival

Please ensure students arrive at 8:15 or later already self-certified. All students should be wearing their plastic blue wristband to note they are heathy and have been symptom checked before school. The paper form is no longer necessary as long as students have their wristband. If the wristband is misplaced or lost, a form may be completed and a replacement band issued.

Please practice the utmost caution and safety during arrival. Be aware of pedestrian traffic and the vehicles in motion. If arriving by car, please pull all the way forward to the cone and do not drop off students outside of the drop zone. Remain in your vehicle during arrival.

Wristbands

Please alert the office and/or your child's teacher if they have lost their wristband. A replacement will be issued the next day.

Attendance

You must contact the office at 708-647-2200 if your child will be absent. If a student has a daily or short absence, a teacher will coordinate with the family to provide assignments or make-up work. The student's schedule will not change. If an in-person student should need to be absent for an extended period due to symptoms/sickness or is impacted by quarantining, please contact the office so any needed adjustments to the child's educational program can be addressed.

Dismissal

It is very important to practice the utmost caution and safety during dismissal. Please be aware of pedestrian traffic and the vehicles in motion at dismissal. If waiting in the carline, please pull all the way forward and do not exit your vehicle at any time during dismissal.

Trimester 2 Report Cards

On Tuesday, March 9th all families will receive a notification that report cards are viewable on Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Please review your child's grades for Trimester 2 and reach out to your child's teachers with any questions. If you would like to request a paper copy, please contact the main office at 708-798-3424 so one may be mailed to you.

Churchill Champions - Leadership & Service

Churchill leadership and service groups have amazing news to share with you. As our sessions came to a close this last month, many completed a community service project designed and carried out by our very own students.

In one group, students decided to write thank you notes and motivational messages to first responders (police and fire), kids in hospitals, and frontline healthcare workers (nurses and doctors). Everyone that received the notes were so thankful for the messages from students. The police department sent over the picture below of Chief Alcott and another officer standing in front of the messages. Another group created care packages for children in the hospital. Donations of care items were boxed and dropped off at Churchill to be delivered to local hospitals. Students also made cards of encouragement for children receiving treatments at Lurie’s. Additionally, Mr. K’s class made “paper hugs” for Waterford Assisted Living Residents.

Take a look at the video below for an upcoming special event inspired by leadership and service at Churchill.
