Texas Motor Speedway!

Our field trip is on Tuesday! Your child must bring a sack lunch and wear their orange shirt on Tuesday. We will return to school before the final bell for pick-up as usual.

Shall we PBL?

PBL we shall! If you're unfamiliar with Project Based Learning, I encourage you to peek at The Buck Institute for Education (www.bie.org). They define it as "... a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an engaging challenge."

Your student will find themselves immersed in their first PBL opportunity later this week so stay tuned!

Kids Say the Darndest Things

When showing off the stuffed animal they brought from home, someone said, "I've had this ever since my baby shower."

After looking through magazines to find spelling words, someone said, "I found a blend in a weird place."

Upon walking in for the first time one morning, someone said, "Honey, I'm home!"

"Homework"

I think you know that I'm not huge on homework....buuuuuuut, I do have a favor to ask.

In this week's Monday Message folder, you'll find a letter about IStation. This is a program that our district requires each student to use as it assesses a large component of our language arts. Your student has already been working in the program while at school but now I'm going to ask that they also work on it at home. Most kids only need to work on it once per week. However, those who struggle with comprehension, vocabulary, and/or spelling may need to work on it more often. THANKS!
