Mustang Round-Up

Reflections from the Principal
In honor of Homecoming week, I couldn't help but share some pictures I found in a yearbook in my office! It's definitely a blast from the past! It amazes me that everyone still looks the same!
Let's have school spirit and lots fun this week! Go Mustangs!

Great Things I Saw This Week
We had many staff and students dress up for College Go Week! Mrs. Baldwin pretty much won the "Neon" staff award for Monday! I also really enjoyed seeing multiple young "Coach Hall's" running around the building for "dress as your future profession" day. Also, many students and staff were "twinning" for "college roommate" day! Everyone had a good time with our College Go Week dress up days. Thanks, Mrs. Foxworthy!
Lastly, I have to mention our parent/teacher conference evening on Wednesday. While it was a long day, the food provided for us by Sterling Christian Church and the fellowship of our staff eating, laughing, and enjoying each other's company was worth every minute. Thank you to Sterling for providing and serving the delicious meal and to all, and to teachers and staff for your extra time and hard work for our students.
Welcome Back, Mr. Davis!

Feature a Teacher, Week 2
Ms. Sandra Kashmer
Years served in Corporation: 36 years
Currently Teaching: Spanish II, Spanish III, and Spanish IV
“Ms. Kashmer is someone who would choose her students even over her personal life. She cares that much.”
-Doug Wallace
“Ms. K was one of the most influential teachers during my high school experience. She not only taught me a beautiful language and skills that help me do the job I love today. But she also helped me flourish as a whole person. I never doubted once that I was loved, valued, and worth all the time she gives. Her kindness and generosity shine through in all she does and those things are still something about high school that I remember and cherish the most. Muchas gracias por todo. - Felicia Mas (grows on the north sides of trees)”

#MustangMindset, SEL Coordinator
I thought that I might take this space this week to give you an update on SEL in the building. One of the first things you may have noticed from last week’s newsletter would have been the Feature a Teacher section. This is a collaborative effort between Mrs. Hammond, Mr. Webb, and I to acknowledge our teachers simply because they are educators who are serving in our building. Each week we will feature one teacher to let that teacher know that they are appreciated. In addition, the problem-solving PLC group has been working to meet student’s needs. We have been focusing on attendance, tardies, and grades. Out of this, I am creating a 7th grade group that will meet during homeroom occasionally to work on building some organizational skills and some of the SEL competencies from last week. Alongside this, if you have a specific student that you are concerned about (whether its grades, attendance, tardies, basic needs, SEL, etc), please don’t hesitate to pass that name along with your concern to anyone in Group 4.
