Week of February 8th

This Week In Math

We finished Topic 10 with the unit test on Friday. I will return those on Monday. We will start Topic 11 which starts our Fractions unit. We will start with factors, multiples and prime and composite numbers. The unit has been opened in schoology. Please see the video links (which I will add to as I find things) and extra work pages. It also has the homework pages, so your student can not say he did not bring their homework home.

Field Trip - Jefferson City

We will be heading to Jefferson City this year on Thursday, April 7th. I believe that field trip permission forms will be coming home on Monday or Tuesday of this week. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. I am sure the students will have lots of questions! We will talk about it in class.

This Week In ELA



Reading
We will continue with our The Lightning Thief read aloud. They will start understanding the Hero's Quest genre, which will tie in with their writing in Unit 5. We mostly be reading this week from Lightning Thief. In addition, we will be starting Unit 5 - Mythology.

There is no Science or Social Studies in this Unit, but we will spend a little time completing the information about the Regions.

Writing
We had our Publishing party on Friday, but unfortunately did not get through everyones presentations. The ones we did see were fabulous. We will finish sharing on Monday morning. Mrs. Brenner will be in this week to start out Mythology writing unit. The students will be writing their very own Heroes Quest. This writing assignment will be due the week before Spring Break.

Small Reading Groups

We have started a fiction unit again in our small reading groups. I believe we will be working in these units for about 2-3 weeks. Please help your student stay on track with his/her reading and getting assignments done in time. They will be given a packet with a calendar and the assignments.

Ambush Night

Castlio is hosting a night at the Ambush Soccer Game on Friday, February 26th. It will start at 7:35pm at the Family Arena in St. Charles. The flier went home to those that were interested today. The cost will be $11 per ticket (cash only). If you are interested, return the bottom portion of the flier to Castlio by February 19th.
