Principals Note
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent-teacher conferences will take place at Morgan Elementary from Monday, February 8 to Friday, February 26. Due to COVID restrictions, this year’s parent teacher conference will be conducted through Zoom, telephone, or Whatsapp. School will be closed on Monday, February 22 for Parent-teacher conferences. Please contact your child's teacher to set up a mutually agreeable time to discuss your child's progress.
Things to remember before the Conference
· Please log into your child's Skyward account before meeting with your child's teacher.
· Your child will bring a paper copy of his report card on Wednesday, February 10.
§ The conference is a good opportunity to discuss any
questions/concerns/technical issues you have about your child’s
grades, attendance, or behavior.
Parent-teacher conferences:
· are a great way to build a cooperative working relationship with your child’s teacher,
· enable you and your child’s teacher to exchange pertinent information about your child;
· when necessary, establish a plan of action for resolving concerns.
Communication and cooperation between the home and the school are key ingredients to your child’s success. Whether exchanging information or identifying and solving common concerns, parent‐teacher conferences can be valuable learning experiences. Parent-teacher conferences are just one of the opportunities to talk about mid-year progress and parents are welcome and encouraged to reach out to their child’s teacher(s) at any time during the school year. It is truly through our collaborative efforts that our students achieve success.

The Medical and Health Science Magnet Program
The Medical and Health Science Magnet Program at L.A Morgan Elementary School
The University of Texas Medical Branch, one of the three college campuses located on Galveston Island, offers a wide variety of health careers. A few years ago, Ball High School began creating a community of study related to the biomedical field for all students interested in the pursuit of careers in this field.
Acknowledging the need for and the effectiveness of planting seeds to achieve success in the medical field at an early age, the Magnet Committee at L. A. Morgan decided to expand its Robotics and Engineering Program to include the Health and Medical Sciences. To promote our students’ interests in these career choices, as well as take advantage of these valuable resources to better prepare them for life, the Committee sought partnerships with these institutions to support and grow the program.
Our school-wide Health and Medical Science Program provides students with opportunities to explore a diverse set of medical topics and professions in a research-based learning environment. Our curriculum is inclusive of every student across all grade levels from PK to 4th grade.
Our program is headed by Dr. Fidel Gutierrez, a medicine school graduate. Dr. Gutierrez, or Dr. G. as he is affectionately called, is cultivating and combining his deep passion for education with the knowledge acquired from his practice as a physician. He collaborates with the magnet coordinator, the principal, vice-principal and the curriculum specialists who are responsible for the design and implementation of the Magnet Theme.Together We Make A Difference
