This Week in LVUSD
Week of June 8, 2020
"This Week in LVUSD" to Continue Through Summer
Additionally, we will be offering livestream Webinars this summer to update you on our planning efforts and to answer any questions you may have. Dates, times, and more information will be available in future editions of This Week in LVUSD.
We wish all of our families a relaxing, restful, and recharging summer break.
Family Meals Available this Summer
Beginning June 15th and throughout the Summer, meal distribution will occur on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00am-12:00pm at AE Wright Middle School.
Parents may pick up the meals on behalf of their students; students are not required to be present. When a parent comes for pick up, they may take two days of meals for each student in their family. Please bring a bag or box if possible.
Looking for a Summer Read?
We have added new parenting and self-improvement books to the Community 360 Digital Library which is free and accessible for all LVUSD families. Titles from Brene Brown, Chip and Dan Heath, and more are currently available for digital checkout. Additionally, all parenting books we've discussed in prior years can be accessed through the link below. Audio formats are available for some titles.
- Go to: https://soraapp.com/welcome/login/340058
- Enter the email address LVUSD has on record for your family.
- Select the title you'd like to read or listen to and select "Borrow".
All titles have a two-week checkout period. We hope that this expanded format allows more families to access these incredible parenting resources.
Need Assistance in Purchasing Food?
To ensure that there is food security for all families during this pandemic, children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals can get up to $365 in food benefits in addition to their
pick up meals from school. These food benefits are called Pandemic EBT or P-EBT.
Most families with children who applied for CalFresh or Medi-Cal benefits do not need to apply. They will get their P-EBT card in the mail during the month of May. P-EBT cards will begin arriving around May 7, 2020 through May 22, 2020.Families with children who are eligible
for free and reduced-price meals and who do not get their P-EBT card in the mail by May 22, 2020 must apply online before June 30, 2020.
Eligible families can apply for the P-EBT card via this link: CLICK HERE
