Banned Book Week: September 23-27
Banned Book Week is a yearly campaign that celebrates the freedom to read by acknowledging previous banned and challenged books. Our students were surprised to learn that books like Harry Potter, The Wizard of Oz, and Diary of Anne Frank had all been banned at one point and the reasons why they were banned.
6th Grade Author Visit: Pablo Cartaya
Award winning author spoke to all of the 6th grade students about his journey to becoming an author and what has inspired his characters. Through his presentation, students learned that they too have stories to tell, and their voice matters.
