From our CMS PTO - Thank you all so much for all of your support in the Caruso Color Run. The event was so much fun and the kids had a great time!! We are very excited to announce that with your help we raised $13,156. All of this money will be put to good use as we begin to purchase new equipment for the Caruso fitness room. We are so thankful for all of your help and support. We truly could not have done it without all of you!
1st/FINAL Posting - Safe Driving
1st/FINAL Posting - Student Dress Reminders
As the weather gets warmer it is a great time to be reminded of our dress code expectations at CMS.
Clothing that is a distraction or presents a safety hazard to students or others are prohibited; hence, students may be requested to change into appropriate clothing by the educator.
Specific clothing that needs to be considered:
- Tops with a strap of 1 inch (or more)
- Shirts that cover the entire waist (even when raising hand) and are of a solid fabric that are not revealing.
- Hats may only be worn during specific spirit days
- No pants sagging below the waist and/or jeans with holes that are revealing
- Shorts and skirts should be of appropriate length - It is recommended that they come to the bottom of the fingertips when the arm is extended to the side.
2nd/FINAL Posting - 7th Grade Parents, PTO needs your help for a fantastic program!
Reality 101, Monday, June 5th
Reality 101 is a program that teaches students to begin to think about making good life decisions through a "real life" simulation experience. Students assume a "life" as an adult and proceed through various stations making decisions about purchasing what they would require in the real world.
Volunteers are important for this program to be successful.

2nd Posting - District Fees: Payable Now, Due July 1
District fees for the 2017-2018 school year now are payable online through Family Access. They are due on July 1; a late fee of $25 per family is assessed if you miss that deadline. If you have an outstanding balance for the current school year for any of your children, please pay those fees as soon as possible.
It is very important that you read this fee letter thoroughly - it has a lot of important information for all families. More information about fees (including fee waivers) is posted on the Fee Information page of the website. Please review the Family Access User Guide with step-by-step online payment instructions so you can quickly and securely pay your fees using a credit card. A few specific notes:
- Incoming kindergarten families: You now can log into Family Access with the login information emailed to your after you registered! The email came from do.not.reply@dps109.org with the subject "Family Access Account Information." If you have chosen extended-day (full-day) kindergarten, you will see 10 payments. The online payment instructions (step #6) explain how you can pay monthly, or choose to add multiple payments at once.
- Middle school families: Your incidental fees are payable now. Some are mandatory and have been assigned to your child's account. Others are optional and can be added to your account. Please read this detailed information about incidental fees.
- Families of parents in separate households: Fees will appear only in the Family Access account of the parent who is the primary payor.
You will see inactive students in Family Access - including District 109 graduates! This allows our incoming families to access the system to pay their fees and ensure we have the correct emergency and contact information for them. So, if you have a child in high school (or beyond!), you will see his or her name pop up now, until we roll over the system for the new school year. Don't worry - there are no fees assigned to them!
Please contact me if you have any questions about Family Access. If you have questions about fee waivers, contact Kelly Mitchell.
