Reporting COVID-19 Cases Over the Break

In addition to calling the COVID-19 Attendance Line (513) 686-1707, families and staff can report COVID-19 related absences online. Please visit and simply fill out the Google Form for your student or yourself. You can also find an icon to the form inside the Sycamore Community Schools Mobile App. Submissions will be monitored daily.

Exams for High School Subjects

SJH exams in subjects taken for high school credit (Algebra 1, Geometry, World Languages, Foundations of Art) will be conducted after the holiday break on January 10, 11, and 12.

Teachers have shared with their students that there will be a significant review of content both in the days leading up to and in the days after the break before the exam.

It is our hope that students can relax and enjoy their time off with family and friends. Neither teachers nor administrators expect students in these high school courses to complete projects, activities, or other intense study-related efforts over the break. Enjoy the time together!

Valuables at School

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We know that many of our students have valuable items or will receive them over the upcoming holidays. We encourage you to have your child LEAVE VALUABLE ITEMS AT HOME. Items like small earbuds are particularly difficult to find. Headphone/earbuds are available for students in the office.

The school can not be responsible for the loss or theft of valuable items a child chooses to bring to school.

Thank you and have a safe, healthy, and restful winter break!

SJH Theater: Spring Musical Auditions

  • SJH theatre will be holding auditions for the spring musical, Willy Wonka Jr., on January 10th and 11th from 3:15-5:30 in the choir room.

  • Students interested in auditioning are invited to attend the informational meeting/song and dance workshop on January 4th from 3:15-5:00 in the choir room.

  • If you have any questions, feel free to contact Mrs. Stein at or Mrs. Rosen at

Save the Date! Freshman Camp is January 13, 2022

Freshman Camp is a day where current 8th graders spend the school day at Sycamore High School. A team composed of high school staff and students will lead the 8th graders through small and large group activities related to the transition to high school.

We will communicate more information as we receive it from the high school.

PTO News

Junior High Parents:

The PTO board has discussed the idea of holding an “a-thon” event to coincide with the Greene School’s walk a- thon on April 14th. It doesn’t necessarily need to be a walk-a-thon it could be any “a-thon” your imagination comes up with. We know we have many talented people out there with ideas because of all of the great “a-thon” events at the K-6 buildings. Right now, we are in the planning stages and are asking our families if anyone out there would like to chair or co-chair this event. If you are interested in learning more about this new event or have ideas on “a-thon” event you think may be good for 7th and 8th graders please reach out to Kathy Mercurio at or
