Orientation at GVMH
Students in the Health Occupations classes at Clinton Technical School recently attended orientation at Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare.
During the two-day orientation, students were oriented to the policies and procedures at GVMH, received TB skin tests, signed confidentiality agreements and met various Department Heads. The second day included a tour of the facility and orientation to patient rooms on the Medical/Surgical floors. Students are now ready to participate in clinicals in various departments at GVMH, including: Emergency Room, Surgery, Cardiac Rehab, Birthing Center, Lab, Pharmacy, Imaging, Outpatient Treatment Center, and the Pediatric and Orthopedic Clinics.
The learning experiences that occur because of Clinton Technical School's partnership with GVMH are amazing!
We are thankful to have such a strong and supportive community partner that helps prepare our students for a career in healthcare.
National Walk to School Day
Wednesday, October 2nd, was a beautiful morning to walk to school.
Over 280 Henry Elementary and Clinton Intermediate School students participated in National Walk to School Day.
Thanks to Coach Johannsen for organizing this yearly event. Thanks also to school staff, Bright Futures volunteers, the Clinton Fire Department, Clinton Police Department, and parents who helped students safely walk to school.
This yearly event encourages students to increase their physical activity, while providing an opportunity to learn about using sidewalks and crossing guards.
Start with Hello at CMS
During the week of September 23rd, students at Clinton Middle School participated in the Sandy Hook Promise challenge, “Start With Hello”.
During Cardinal Time, students played “Peek-a-Who”, a game in which 2 teams are on either side of a sheet. The sheet drops and the first person to say the other person's name wins. Both students and teachers had a blast!
"Start With Hello" is celebrated in schools across America. This program helps to create a culture of inclusion, by teaching and showing students how they can make a difference with their peers in simple, fun, and impactful ways. The program promotes connectedness and inclusion, with the goal of identifying students who are lonely and not connected to peers.
