Temperament
-Children different in temperaments react to their environment
-Passivity relates how activity involved with child's environment
-does something in response of someone new
-Irritability or tendency to feel distressed
-Most infants cry of Irritability
-Activity patterens moments also vary in infants
Attachment
-Attachment is strong emotional connection
- It develops between people.
-Get attached with caregivers
-Examples are cooing, kicking, gurgling, and laughing
-Separation anxiety happens when caregiver leaves
-By 15months separations is most strong
-Also is shown is 9-18months
-Children are just fearful of caregiver leaving
-To help you can give them favorite things.
-for example favorite toy / blanket
-As they fimiliar they show less distress
Changes over time
-In the first 2years there are many changes
-Socially and emotionally are major changes
-As a caregiver your actions reflect
-Trust is a key turn in social-emotional development
-Encourage them to interact with others
-They end up feeling safe and happy
Birth - 3Months
-Newborns do not have refined emotions
-General excitement and general distress at first
-Exciement shown by smiling or wiggling
-Distrees shown by crying
3-6 months
-Child responds with smiles and laughter
-You can make them happy by play
-Another by feeding and holding them
-Crying is still showing distress
-Early stage of tears and later on
-Different crys show different distress
6 - 12 months
-Become active involved with caregiver(s)
-When played with shows happiness
-Starts to respond in speech
-Begins to develop fear
-Don be surprise when she/he cries at strangers
-This stage may be diffult because of Separation Anxiety
-As a result child will cling
-They will cry upon entering daycare
-When parent leaves child will cry
-They will cry for a couple mins but then stop
-Behavior will continue until 14 to 16 months
12-24 months
-Might become upset thinking of future
-Very curious about new places and objects
-Child Start to come aware of their own abilities
-Toddlers are proud when they do things them self
- Most children can say 'no' by now
