Kinder Review

Literacy Corner

This week in literacy, we reviewed the sight words taught thus far. Please continue to review those words nightly at home. The students were introduced to the Letterlanders Golden Girl, Oscar Orange and Mr. O.While learning about these Letterlanders, we discussed the sound that they each make. Our reading theme for the week was nocturnal animals. During this time we read books related to the owl and the bat. We were able to make comparisons between the two animals, as well as discuss fiction and nonfiction text. After reading each book, we reviewed the stories to work on our comprehension skills. Please review everything taught this week with your child at home.

Next week we will review the Letterlanders from this week, as well as introduce the students to Peter Puppy. We will introduce the class to the word wall words "look" and "me". Our theme for next week will be Native Americans to celebrate National Native American Month.

Math Lab

This week in math we worked on one more and one less. The students were taught that the number that comes before a number is one less and the number that comes after a number is one more. We also touched on addition and subtraction in regards to one more/one less. We also worked on our counting skills, which we will do all year.

Next week we will introduce the students to more than, less than and equal to.

Parental Reminders

We had a great week!!! I am so glad to be back, working with your children and getting to know them on a more personal level. I look forward to seeing your children grow the remainder of the school year.

Please remind your students of the school expectations. Although we had a great week, they did have to be reminded frequently of the expectation of the classroom and school. The main point I would like for you to discuss with your child is talking while the teacher is talking. It is hard for students to learn when others are constantly talking and interrupting while I am teaching.

If you have not signed up for a conference time, please make sure you do so on Sign-up Genius. I look forward to meeting with you all during the next few weeks.
