Mission
Why we are here:
"Our mission is to cultivate a supportive and inclusive community of our family members that reflects the diversity, values, goals and mission of the Sheridan School. We strive to enhance the school experience for families, faculty/staff, and students by facilitating effective communication, sponsoring family activities that foster a spirit of involvement and joyful engagement, and promoting meaningful service learning."
We plan to do this through:
The PA is organized around an Executive Committee which works to facilitate communication, community events, and service learning through event chairs and liaisons. The Executive Committee is comprised of the Co-Presidents, the Communications Chair, the PA liaison to staff/faculty, and the staff/faculty liaisons to the PA.
Communication
Our goal is to promote clear and open communication lines between PA-related interests and school staff/faculty. The PA Communications Chair works heavily with Sheridan’s communications team to inform the community about PA events. We also have grade parents designated each year to ensuring good communication with class parents. Lastly, the PA has liaisons to and from school who aid in bridging any gaps or needs between school and the parent community.
Activities
The PA-sponsored activities at Sheridan are designed to bring the community together in fun, family-friendly ways. The events are consistent with the mission of Sheridan by being inclusive and joyful and it is our hope that everyone feels welcome to join in the festivities. Yearly PA-sponsored events include: Fall Fair, Fall Bookfair, International Night, Talent Show, Spring Fling, and the Spring Bookfair at Politics and Prose. The PA also helps in many other school events like parent education and service learning; for a full list please see descriptions.
Service learning
Please check back for more details about this important PA commitment.
Who Will do this – You!
Volunteer help from the entire parent body is critical to the success of everything the PA strives to accomplish. You can expect to meet great people, learn more about the school, and have fun! We have volunteer opportunities for every level of interest and time commitment. If you’re not sure what would be best for you, feel free to contact the Co-presidents and they can help you find just the right activity.
