Snacks are the perfect opportunity to get kids involved in the kitchen! This is a great way to encourage them to try new foods, which can lead to the development of lifelong healthy eating habits. Penguin Snack
Ingredients:
Oval Crackers
Low-fat Cream Cheese
Large Whole Black Olives
Carrots
Directions:
- Spread cream cheese on crackers.
- Quarter olives lengthwise to make wings and slice olives to make the head(s).
- Cut the beak(s) and feet out of carrot slices.
- Assemble penguins and enjoy.
Apple Owl
This one is a HOOT!
Ingredients:
Whole Green Apple
Marshmallows
Chocolate Chips
Mandarin Oranges
Pretzel Rods
Directions:
- Slice the apple in half, and use one half for the body.
- Cut half of the remaining side into wings and the other half into a circle for the head.
- Make ears from the scraps.
- Cut a marshmallow in half for the eyes
- Place a chocolate chip on each eye.
- Use mandarin oranges to make the beak and feet.
- Place a pretzel rod under the feet.
Broom Stick Snack
Ingredients:
Low-fat String Mozzarella String Cheese
Pretzel Sticks
Chives
Directions:
- Cut string cheese into thirds.
- Spread apart the cheese into thin strands on one side.
- Poke pretzel into the non-separated end of the string cheese.
- Tie chive around the cheese as shown.
Peanut-Butter-Flies and Snails
Ingredients:
Celery Ribs
Creamy Peanut Butter
Tiny Pretzel Twists
Mini Semisweet Chocolate Chips
Raisins
Apple Slices
Directions:
- Cut each celery rib into thirds and fill with peanut butter.
- Break bottom loop off 2 pretzel twists. Use these broken pieces to create antennas.
- Use 2 chocolate chips to create the eyes.
- For Butterflies: Use remaining 2 pretzel pieces to create wings and place 3 raisins between the wings.
- For Snails: Use apple slice to create the shell and (optional) use piping bag to draw peanut butter lines on shell.

Miniature Marshmallows
Directions:
- Spread peanut butter onto one side of each apple slice.
- Place marshmallows onto peanut butter-covered side of one apple to resemble teeth.
- Top with a second apple slice.
