Movin' for Moolah Kicked Off this Week!

We enjoyed a special visit from the K Wings mascot, Slappy, this week. Slappy along with Gabe Secord, Mac Kruizenga, Abby Miles, Jaxson Dentler, Jon Reitenour, Derek Rapa & Ella Singleton helped to entertain our student body with the Nae Nae dance along with other fun activities to get our students pumped up for this year's fundraiser. Students are busy collecting money for are only fundraiser. Students who bring in at least $50 by Monday, Sept. 28th, will qualify for the early incentive prize, a pizza party at school! Wouldn't it be great if each student was able to get 6 people to sponsor them $5? If so, our school would quickly raise $15,000! As students begin to get pledges, many contributors (and parents too!) want to know “How are these funds used?” Funds raised by the PTO are used to provide enrichment activities, rewards, recognition celebrations, building needs, assemblies and technology.Pledge forms are due Tue., Oct. 6th. All of our students will be "movin" on Friday, Oct. 9th at Bulldog Stadium.

Attention All Parents of Middle School Girls!

GLOW, which stands for Girls Leading Our World, is a new after school program at the middle school this year, open to all girls in 6th-8th grades. GLOW will focus on the development of positive self esteem, body image, confidence, and leadership skills through fun activities, lessons and discussions. GLOW will meet every second and fourth Thursday of the month, with the exception of holiday breaks, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Research has shown that middle school is when girls' self-esteem hits its lowest point. Sefl-esteem can affect many other areas of a girl's life, and the effects of low self-esteem can be devastating. GLOW aims to stop and reverse these effects by helping girls build positive self-esteem and gain greater confidence in themselves, helping them to reach their full potential and become the leaders of today and tomorrow. GLOW was created and being organized by OHS Senior, Ashley Lane. She will lead GLOW, along with other high school volunteers and middle school teachers. Information packets are available in our office and on our website www.otsegops.org. If you have questions, please feel free to contact Ashley at ashleylane422@yahoo.com
