Evaluations

Welcome back! Parents, you should have received their child's GT evaluation via email on January 4. Please let Ms. Hunt (ahunt@nbisd.org) know if you didn't get it emailed to you. The final GT evaluation for this year will be sent at the end of May to the email we used on January 4 so please let Ms. Hunt know if that changes so she can use the right one. Thank you!

6th Grade

STEM Challenges

Each grade level is focusing on STEM activities, games, projects and challenges this 9 weeks. 6th grade took some time to play with Lego STEM kits to try and build the items on the box in a certain amount of time. It's great for teamwork, communication, and out-of-the-box thinking.

6th and 7th grade then switched activities with 7th grade finishing off January doing the STEM kits 6th grade worked on and 6th grade was able to play some games. Both grade levels are moving into February working on their Tinkercad tiny home project that all grade levels will be doing in February.

7th Grade

Games

7th grade spent time in January playing board games, brain and mind games in groups. The games were used to foster creativity, teamwork, push students' thinking and to challenge them in various areas of STEM. They also worked on Tinkercad and created backyards as the precursor to their tiny home project for February.

8th Grade

Tiny House

8th grade spent January also playing games and building into our STEM unit. The last two weeks of January were spent introducing them to the unique project 8th grade is doing for February, which is to design a home for Mrs. Bryant to live in. The group that does the best job with their architectural design and floor plan for a tiny home will get taken to Mrs. Bryant's architect to be created for her and her family. This PBL project will happen in groups and continue into February as each team completes research, creates a design and presentation.
