Mrs. Mogg's Monday Memo!
room 213 Central grade 2
This week....
Well, you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! I'm trying my hand at this newsletter format. Glad to find a way to share some of the pictures I've taken this year of your children!
Since Veteran's Day is Wednesday, let's wear Red, White, and Blue ! :)
We have completed Reading Unit 2, which gives us a little time to do some Thanksgiving Stories while we do the Unit tests. Your child will be bringing home a copy of a story to read to you. Please be sure it gets back to school.
We enjoyed the 2 versions of the Bremen Town Musicians last week. We shared those with our 5th grade reading buddies on Friday.
Each week we send home a poem. Reading poems is a great way to build reading fluency. I encourage you to read the poem several times during the week.
Many of you mentioned that you'd like more frequent updates on behavior than the monthly chart. I'm sending home a copy of your child's chart for last week so you can see how we're doing.
The reason we began these behavior charts was to have an objective way to put a score on the progress report that has several sections for behavior/citizenship.
I'm looking forward to Science Day on Friday! Last year was excellent! Great to see students excited about Science!
We are starting Topic 7 Mental Math... subtraction this week! Try to challenge your child to do mental math when you drive through food places to figure the amount and or change!
Also ask what is 10 less than.. 53... 10 more? 100 more??
As fall finally turns to winter we want you to know that we will go outside as much as possible! Fresh air and exercise! You may send extra mittens, hats, scarves to keep in lockers.
It was great to see so many of you at the Fall Festival Friday night!
