Car Arrival Information
For the safety of all, please only drop off children between the two open doors (gym and library). There are staff members outside to help. If you are unsure, please ask. Do not let kids out outside of that unloading area. Also, please do not leave the car drop off line to go around another car. There are cars entering the parking lot and this can cause a very unsafe situation.
Notes from the Nurse
In order to provide some guidance for families regarding testing for COVID-19 related symptoms, we would like to share some information with you.
If your child has any symptom from Group A or two or more symptoms from Group B consult with your pediatrician for testing referral.
We have heard from parents that many of the urgent care sites are promoting the antigen test because of the rapid result. Since many people are not familiar with the difference in testing types, we wanted to share this explanation with you as we will only accept negative results from a PCR test for return to school after students exhibit any illness symptoms.
There are multiple tests available, however a molecular diagnostic test (PCR) detects the presence of the virus and is the gold standard for detecting active infection. PCR test results are coming back within 24-48 hours in most cases.
A second method is the antigen test. Although these antigen tests are faster to run, they are less sensitive and less specific and results must be confirmed by a molecular test. Antigen testing has a false negative rate of close to 50%.
Please note that we will need a copy of the PCR results before your child can return to school. Please contact your school nurse with any questions.
Thank you,
SPS Nursing Team

Greeting of the Week
As part of our school-wide morning announcements, we have started teaching our school community how to say good morning in different languages. This is what we have learned so far!

Bonjour (bohn-zhoor) - French
Dobroye Utro (dough-bro-ye ootro) - Russian
Sabah Alkhyr (sabah-al-khair) - ArabicZǎoshang hǎo (zow-shung-how) - Mandarin Chinese
Terre Hommikust (tear-ay home-i-koost - Estonian
Buna Ziua (boo-nah zee-wa) - Romanian
If your child would like to be part of our morning announcements, please record them saying hello in another language and send it to Mr. Gaita or Mrs. Harvey.
Loring Core Values
At Loring School, we are PAWSOME because we show our Core Values! These values are part of everyday life at Loring and reinforced in the classroom, on the playground and all around school. Students are taught the meaning of each word and how they make us better students and citizens.
Respect ~ Responsibility ~ Caring ~ Best Effort
The Loring Pledge
The Loring Pledge is said every morning during announcements. Loring students embody our pledge and we hope this stays with them not only when they are at school but home as well.
