AHS Counselors' Newsletter: Spring 2021 2nd Edition
Welcome Eagle Families
We hope you all had a safe and wonderful Spring Break. We are here to support each student as we move into the last 9 weeks.
As a counseling team, we implement a comprehensive school counseling program which consists of:
Guidance Curriculum, Responsive Services, Individual Planning and System Support.
Important Dates:
April 5th: Applications for Pass/Fail are due by 3:00pm. The link to the application can be found here.
April 8th: Seniors- If you are planning or considering attending Lone Star College next year, please join Lone Star for a College Information Night at 6:00pm. Information can be found here once published.
April 19th-23rd: Verification Process 1 of 2.
Parents will have the opportunity from April 19th - April 23rd to verify their student's learning location & course selections and make any necessary changes. Specific instructions will be sent out prior to April 19th.
May 17th-21st: Verification Process 2 of 2.
Parents will have the opportunity from May 17th - May 21st to verify their student's learning location & course selections and make any necessary changes. Specific instructions will be sent out prior to May 17th.
4th Nine Weeks
Individual Meetings
Counselors conducted individual meetings with students last semester. Counselors will continue to meet with students individually this semester as well.
During the individual meetings counselors will discuss: current grades and progress, graduation requirements, post grad plans (CCMR-College Career Military Readiness), State and SAT/ACT testing, Scholarships and Financial Aid.
Verification Sheets
Parents will have the opportunity from April 19-23 and again from May 17-21 to verify their student's learning location and course selections and make any necessary changes. Specific instructions will be sent out prior to the verification times.

Great 8 Skill for the quarter: Social Awareness
Social awareness is one's ability to positively interact with others. We can strive to REACT to others in ways that promote a safe community.
What does REACT mean and what do these attributes look like?

How can we improve our social awareness skills?
Pick at least 1 item from each part of REACT and apply it regularly. Encourage friends to join you in practicing positive ways to REACT to others!

Humble ISD Course Guides
College and Career Readiness Updates
Humble ISD will offer the PreACT to ALL interested middle school (6th-8th grade) and high school (9th-10th grade) students on Saturday, April 17, 2021. Students may select either Kingwood or Summer Creek High School as a test site. The cost of the exam is $25, which is payable online; the registration window is January 25 - March 5, 2021.
