MARCH 6, 2023

culture.relationships.future ready

Hello Families,

Welcome to March!!! What a crazy couple weeks of weather we have been having. I’m not sure how you all feel, but winter feels like it has gone on forever to me. Here is to a healthy, safe and fast approaching springtime. Boy, do we need it!!!

As spring break is quickly approaching at the end of the month, there is a lot that has to be done over the next three weeks. If you are anything like me you rely heavily on routines and consistency. The time between now and spring break is the time when educators can really dive into student learning and not be interrupted by holidays or weather related delays…I hope! With that being said, it is crucial that your students be here over the next few weeks prior to the break and engage in that learning.

There are a couple key spring items that I need to bring to your attention. Spring conferences will be in the second week of April. Stay tuned for more detailed information to follow. We are also training staff in order to make sure everyone is ready for our Smarter Balanced Testing this spring. With the addition of 1 to 1 chromebooks a few years ago, it allows us to wait a bit longer to test. This enables us to teach content as long as possible throughout the entire school year. I will be sending out information on some keys to making sure your students are ready each day during the testing window. Setting students up for success starts with proper nutrition and plenty of sleep.

As always, please look at the other items Mrs. Nau has included. There will be a lot going on over the next few months. Staying informed is crucial. As always, if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask. Mrs. Nau, Mrs. Carey, Mrs. Goodman and Mrs. Hill are always available to answer any questions you may have. We are here to serve you and the entire community.

8th GRADE FORECASTING AND YEAR END ACTIVITIES

This week is a big week for our 8th graders. They will be forecasting on Wednesday for their freshman year of high school. Also on Thursday night the high school counselors and administrators will be here at the middle school from 6:00-7:00 pm to meet with parents in order to answer any questions you may have or help you and your student in finding the classes that best fit their needs. Here is a link to the presentation the high school counselors will be covering with your student.

There will be a parent promotion meeting on April 6 at 6:30 pm. Promotion is scheduled for Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 7:00 pm at Stayton High School. At the parent meeting, I will also talk about the expectations for students to be able to attend the end of year field trip.
