Welcome Back From Mr. Nichols
Happy New Year!
We hope that you have all had a great, and relaxing winter break! We are excited to see the kids back Monday and hear all about their time away from school. As the kids prepare to return, we hope they are "READY TO LEARN"! We will spend some time in the next week or so reviewing what it looks like and sounds like to be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe.
Please take a moment to review the reminders below as you (parents, guardians, and care-takers) prepare to return as well:
- Doors open for kids to come in at 7:15 (any other reason to be in the building before 7:15 would need to be scheduled through the office or the teacher directly)
- We encourage you to use our West parking lot drop-off where there are staff members to aid in helping your students out of the vehicle and into the building or the St. Theresa’s parking lot across the road and have students use the bridge to walk across. 59th Street is also an option but please remember to pull up so that cars aren’t backed up out into University Avenue.
- We encourage you to let the kids come in on their own as this helps to grow their independency (If a parent/care-taker walks the child into the school, please know that we want the child's day to start once they enter their classroom. Therefore, adults do not need to accompany students into their child's room in the morning).
- As each staff member has responsibilities in the morning, please consider email and/or phone options for contacting your child's teacher instead of parking and walking in. They will be sure to respond as quickly as possible to you contacting them. Our number at school is 242-8440.
- If there is a change in your child's transportation during the day, all communication should be through the office prior to 2:00.
- All visitors to the building will need to be prepared to stop in the office to get a visitor’s badge. Parents can get a code to sign themselves in and out. All other visitors will be asked to scan their driver’s license.
Thank you for your continued support of Windsor!

From the Counselor
This month in guidance we will be learning about personal safety and wellbeing particularly in regard to online safety and balancing media in our lives. Here are 5 tips from CommonSenseMedia.org about how to help kids balance their media lives.
1. Create screen-free times and zones.
Helps kids take breaks from tech by limiting screen time in bedrooms, during study time, or at the dinner table.
2. Try parental controls.
Set content limits that make sense for your family. Alongside conversations about healthy media habits, use features such as content filtering, privacy settings, and time limits offered by the apps and platforms your family uses to help manage access and exposure to media.
3. Establish clear family rules.
Decide together what kind of media and tech I OK – and when it’s OK to use it. A family media plan can help get everyone on the same page
4. Watch and play together.
Choose quality, age-appropriate media to enjoy with your kids. Visit commonsensemedia.org to find shows, games, and more.
5. Help kids identify healthy behaviors.
Practice talking about feelings – both physical and emotional – during screen and non-screen activities.
