Science and Social Studies
We have a busy month with several special activities planned for our science units on Properties of Matter and Changes in Matter through Heating and Cooling. It is our goal to make each of these units a fun learning experience!
Language Arts
We will continue to practice handwriting, letter ID and letter sounds. We will learn about adding pages to our writing & re-reading to learn more & more from our books. Students will practice labeling their pictures & writing names with only the first letter capitalized.
Students will start bringing home practice reading books soon! Using these books, we look for patterns in the sentences and work on concepts of print and early decoding skills such as looking at the first letter and the picture to make sure the words we say make sense and look & sound right. Sometimes we have a poem instead of a book. The books/poems may also be related to the seasons or to science or social studies concepts. Some of these books have sight words on the front. However, the books are not chosen based on the sight words. They are instead chosen for the particular skill & level of our classes or groups of students within our classes.
Math
Continued from last week:
- In numeration, students will be able to read, write, and represent #0-20. This will include making sets of objects and counting one to one correctly.
- We continue working on orally counting to 100. Please help your child practice at home. Our current goal is at least 25.
