ISTEP Starts Next Week
ISTEP starts next week and you can help your children be successful by...
1. Encouraging them to do their best. This is an opportunity to show what they know.
2. Send them to school well rested and with a healthy breakfast.
As you know from a previous SLS Update, any money collected during the past two All-School Masses was earmarked for Edelweiss House. The total came to $415.07! On behalf of SLS and Sister Pat, thank you for your support.

Golf Sign Up Sheets are posted and will be picked up on Monday 2/27.
If you have played a fall or winter sport your physical and required forms are on file. If you have not, you must have them turned in prior to any team pre conditioning or skill work. DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE.
There will be upcoming notification for St Louis physical night for the 2017-18 season. The St Louis athletic department receives money back from your participation. Last year we had less than 25% of all St Louis athletes participate. This year lets strive for 100%.
Thank you,

St Louis 5th Grade Girls Basketball Recap
The St. Louis Cardinals 5th grade girls basketball team pushed their record to 6-2 last Thursday as they defeated the St. Lawrence Lady Panthers by a score of 12-5. The win was founded on a well-balanced effort by the Lady Cardinals and was emphasized by the defensive play of Isabelle Fitzgerald, Rhea Miller, Izzy Price, Madison Wanstrath, Sadie Wachsmann and Leah Cossentino.
Offensively, the Lady Cardinals were led by Kate Weber with four points and Lilly Schebler, Isabelle Wonnell, Claire Saner and Catherine Streator each had two points. The Lady Cardinals currently have a six game win streak!
The next game will be Wednesday, February 22 when they travel to St. Paul and take on the Lady Muskies.
Thanks,
Coach Schebler

7th and 8th against St. Michael
Last week the 7th and 8th grade girls traveled to St. Michaels and lost both.
The 7th grade Lady Cardinals ended with a score of 10-31. Scoring for St. Louis was Emma Weberding with 4 pts, Alyssa Wanstrath, Olivia Raab, Ava Allen all had 2 pts each. We played some tough D and pressed, but we were unable to stop them for the fast break points. We kept a positive spirit and left the score out of mind and aimed to get 10 pts for us and we accomplished this and many more things. Way to have a great attitude ladies.
The 8th grade Lady Cardinals also ended with a loss the score being 28-34. This game was a close one all the way through. Scoring for SLS were Pam Meneses with 16 pts, Lauren Gutzwiller with 8 pts, Grace Eckstein and Emma Weberding with 2 pts each. For having a team that is ill and injured they do a great job. It is unfortunate that it has happened to our team this year. All these girls played their hearts out and fought a great match up to the end. Good job ladies.
Thanks!

SLS against Sunman Dearborn A
Last night St. Louis traveled to Sunman Dearborn Middle School. While we knew going in that these games were going to be super tough we set our own goals and met everyone of them!
The 7th grade ended the game with a score of 4-39. Scoring our two baskets were Emma Weberding and Chelsea Robertson. I had asked these girls to keep the opponent below 40pts for the game and they did that and to also score two baskets of which they did. So while some wouldn't see great things with a score like this we came out successful and happy as a team meeting these goals.
The 8th grade game ended with a score of 12-37. Scoring for SLS were Pam Meneses with 6pts, Emma Weberding with 4pts, and Alyssa Wanstrath with 2pts. Once again having our own goals set for the game we conquored those. We held them below 40pts and we wanted 6pts and scored 12pts so they doubled what I was asking for. They played very well against this tough ball team. We learn a lot playing teams that are this skilled.
Good job to both teams I couldn't be prouder.
Coach Trenkamp
SLS Invitational
On Saturday St. Louis held their annual SLS Invitiational. Playing in these games were St. Louis, St. Bart, Milan, and South Decatur. Winning for the 7th grade was St. Bart with SLS being the runner up. Winning for 8th was SLS and runner up South Decatur.
Game 1 for St. Louis 7th against the Milan Indians ended with a score of 17-9. Scoring for SLS were Alyssa Wanstrath and Emma Weberding with 4pts each, Lilly Wonnell with 3pts, and Olivia Raab with 2pts. The team played amazing D, and out rebounded Milan both offensively and defensively.
Game 2 which was the championship game for SLS 7th took on St. Bart and came up short with a score of 7-26. Scoring for SLS were Ava Allen, Faith Tekulve, and Lilly Wonnell with 2pts each, and Emma Weberding with 1pt. They gave their all but we just couldn't pull the win off. Runner up isn't so bad though!
Game 1 for St. Louis 8th was against Milan and ended with a score of 16-13. Scoring for SLS were Pam Meneses with 6, Lauren Gutzwiller with 5pts, Grace Eckstein and Emma Weberding with 2pts each, and Alyssa Wanstrath with 1pt. The Cards played a great D and pressed very well. This was another close game for us against the Indians.
Game 2 for SLS 8th grade was against South Decatur. This was the championship game and WE WON!!! The score ended 33-23! Scoring for SLS were Pam Meneses with 12 pts, Ava Allen 10pts, Lauren Gutzwiller with 5pts, and Olive Cerniliga, Grace Eckstein, and FaithTekulve all with 2pts each. These girls all played hard and wanted this win more than anything. Great game and Congrats Ladies!!
