Weekly Bulletin January 5-9, 2015
A New Year brings resolutions. Whatever your New Year Resolution may be, below are some tips on achieving your resolution from TeachingChannel.org.
"The key to effective New Year’s resolutions is picking something manageable. Remember how you were feeling in December. Was there something that was bothering you? An area where you thought you could improve? Try to start small. After you’ve decided on a goal for 2015, write it down, As the year goes on, try to make time to check in with your progress towards your goal and modify your plans as needed. Follow this mantra: focus, adjust, focus, adjust. Remember to celebrate your efforts and progress!"
As you celebrate the end of the 2014 year, don't forget that you do make a difference in the lives of students. Thank you for all of your dedication to your students this first semester!
Have a Blessed Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
January 5th Staff Development; January 6th Work Day
We will have staff development on Monday, January 5th. We will begin promptly at 8:00am and meet in the cafeteria. The afternoon will be dedicated to curriculum planning.
Tuesday, January 6th will be a workday.
In one of the bulletins from earlier in the year, I mentioned that each campus has been given an opportunity to select Innovative teachers to make a presentation to the school board. At the December school board meeting, Katy, Kaycee, and Christen were selected to present how they use Socrative.com with their students. The ladies did a great job presenting and the board members had fun answering the questions on the quiz. Thank you ladies for your collaboration, creativity, and always looking for different strategies to help your students.
In January, the 8th grade math team will be presenting to the board how they use the Navigator system on the new TI Nspire calculators.

Quote of the Week
“I've come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element in the classroom. It's my daily mood that makes the weather. As a teacher, I possess a tremendous power to make a child's life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated and a child humanized or de-humanized.” Dr. Haim Ginott
