Ora Jones Foundation Scholarship
Qualifications:
1. Must submit an acceptance letter to either a 2 yr or 4 yr College or University.
2. Must submit a high school transcript with a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.
3. Must submit a 1000 word typed essay which depicts the importance of the scholarship and describes how they will use their education to give back to the community.
4. Must provide a cover letter with the following:
a. Full name
b. Address, phone number, email, and name of high school you graduated from.
c. A brief biography about yourself.
Deadline for entry: Friday, April 15, 2022
Scholarships to be awarded: ($500 – $1,000)
Carlton Reese Memorial Unity Choir Scholarship
*Qualified applicants will be invited to audtiion.
*Must be accepted into a music program at a college
*Deadline to apply-April 29 (must be postmarked or received by then.)

Herb Hanes-Bill Sparks Scholarship
*Participated in varsity athletics or in an athletic related activity (cheer, dance, trainer, etc) at a Jefferson or Shelby County High School.
*Been accepted into a 4 year Alabama college or university.
*Completed all required froms.
*Deadline for receiving applications is April 22, 2022.

*The scholarship will be awarded via a random drawing of all completed applications.

Distinguished Young Women of Jefferson County Program

2. Some colleges require a separate application. Don't delay! You don't want to miss the deadlines.
3. Always check for and apply for departmental scholarships.
4. When in doubt, reach out to the college recruiter for more help. They may be able to connect you with more scholarships.
5. Once accepted to a college, contact the the financial aid office. They may help with finding additional ways to pay for college.
6. Many colleges require that students complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) before scholarships are awarded. The FAFSA opened October 1st. Apply at https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa.
