Modified School Calendar 2020-2021 (Year- Round - Education)
We are exploring the option of a modified calendar beginning with the 2020-2021 school year. Your input is valued and requested.
As we continue to study the benefits of a modified school year, we are interested in your feedback as a stakeholder in Florence 1 Schools. The information collected will be analyzed to help us understand the potential interest in a modified school calendar.
Please review the graph and calendar within the survey to help you determine if you would support a modified school calendar for the 2020-2021 year at your school.
All surveys must be submitted by Friday, January 17th, 2020.

Tardiness
Tardies will start over January 14th and are cumulative rather than each scheduled period independent of the other. (Includes late to
school and late to class).
Acceptable Excuses for Tardiness
● A signed note from medical, court, law
enforcement, or other authority indicating
the reason for the pupil's tardiness.
● Accidents that can be documented by the
principal, including any police report or
witness, if available.
● Malfunctioning automobiles directly causing
the tardiness with documentation to
principal's satisfaction; any frequent use
of this excuse for tardiness might result in
the student being advised to secure more
dependable transportation.
Unacceptable Excuses for Tardiness:
● Oversleeping
● Missing the school bus (unless the school
bus departed from its regular schedule)
● Arriving late due to dependence on another
person (parent, student, or anyone else).
● Walking to school
● Being held up in traffic
DROP - OFF AND PICK – UP
- Please keep the car rider name(s) visible in the front window until your child is loaded.
- When traveling in the school’s parking lot please be aware of your speed; often times, our students are less than attentive at arrival and dismissal. This seems especially true at dismissal time in the car line.
- Please stay off your cell phones while driving on campus.
- When dropping off at the school, please pull as far forward as possible. Also, please have students exit from the right-hand side of the car whenever possible.
- Please continue to turn right when leaving the car line to help with traffic flow.
LET'S GET SOCIAL
We will continue utilizing our Instagram and Facebook Page this year to showcase all our positive school wide activities. The intent of this forum is to maintain a positive school climate and promote the great things happening at Savannah Grove Elementary. Please do not use our social media page to share concerns or complaints. As always, please contact Principal Copeland directly at 843-269-2563 or stop by for a face to face conversation if/when concerns arise.
