COVID-19 Contact Tracing Updates

FES will resume contact tracing at the school level, beginning this week. As a result of this, we will contact parents/guardians as well as staff members of anyone who is considered a close contact of someone who has tested positive with COVID-19.

To help us with these efforts, please take a moment to complete this OPTIONAL form, regarding your students' vaccination status. If you have already submitted your child's Vaccination status to our Health Team, please disregard this form.

February Parent Conferences

Parent-Teacher Virtual Conferences February 10th & 11th

  • Due to the limited number of available time slots, please schedule a conference if you have a concern or question in the area of Math.
  • Scheduling opens in Synergy ParentVue on Friday, January 28th and closes on Friday, February 4th.
  • Conferences are 15 minutes and will be with your child's math teacher.

  • If you would like to have conference with your child's Related Arts teacher, please email them directly to schedule your conference.

Logging onto Google Meet for your Conference

  • You will use your child’s HCPSS credentials to join the conference.
  • To prevent “overlap” of conferences, teachers will be using Google Meet room joining security features. You may have to wait to be admitted into the Google Meet room.
  • Google Meet Codes: You will see the meeting code for your conference in Synergy when you sign up for a conference. You will receive a reminder email with the room code from the Synergy system a few days before your conference.

Nothing Bundt Cake Reading Incentive

This program rewards students with a free Bundtlet (small cake) when they read 400 minutes each month. The program is parent-led and home-based. For more information, check out the flyer here. To participate, download and print the recording sheet here. The program runs January 15th - March 31st.

Calling all Volunteers!
Recess monitors are needed to help keep eyes on all our kiddos! Have a half hour? Please sign-up to help with active supervision on the playground, your role involves assisting students who need help and interacting with students - if you notice a student alone- encourage them to sit at the Buddy Bench or to play with someone else, scanning the parameters of the playground and help moving lunch carts. 2022 Summer Programs Preview

The 2022 Summer Programs Preview, which contains descriptions of HCPSS’ four summer programs and enrollment information, is available to view and download from the Summer Programs web page (

Online enrollment requests for currently enrolled HCPSS students will open February 1 at 6:00 p.m. for the following programs:

  • BSAP Summer Institute (Entering Grades K-9)
  • Gifted and Talented Summer Institutes for Talent Development (Entering Grades 1-8)

NOTE: Invitations for eligible HCPSS students for Academic Intervention and Extended School Year Special Education programs will come directly from the school or special education team during Spring 2022.

National Alliance for Mental Health Presentaiton

This past Tuesday we had Ms. Denise Giuliano, from National Alliance for Mental Health (NAMI), present on Children and Mental Health Support. Ms. Giuliano shared warning signs of a mental health condition, possible behaviors both at home and school, as well as strategies for parents.

Late Bell Reminder

As a friendly reminder, our late bell is at 9:25. Any student who arrives at 9:25 or later, must be walked into our front office by an adult to be signed in. The student would receive a note to be let into the classroom after the bell rings.

Message from our Health Team

If your child tests positive for Covid-19 or is a close contact to a positive case, please email the following information to the Health Room staff ( and and Dr. Burks ( regarding your child's absence:

Positive Test:

  • Date tested
  • Date the symptoms began (if any)
  • Vaccination status
  • Type of Covid test taken and date

Close Contact to a Positive Individual if not Vaccinated:

  • Date of exposure (if close contact)
  • If your child is a household close contact - can the positive family member completely isolate from the child?
  • Has your child had a confirmed positive Covid-19 test within the last 90 days

Support for Student Prize Cart

An integral part of our PBIS program is our Prize Cart. Students earn Falcon Feathers for demonstrating positive behavior being Respectful, Responsible, and Ready. They can then redeem their Falcon Feathers for various prizes from the Prize Cart. If you would like to help support this program, please consider purchasing items for the Prize Cart from our Amazon wish list. Thank you for your continued support of our school!

To help keep our students and staff safe, we continuously remind our students of the appropriate way to wear their mask. This week, we have Freddie modeling how to wear a mask appropriately as well as some no examples.
